American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, the team with possession of the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with the ball or passing it, while the defense, the team without possession of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and to take control of the ball for themselves. The offense must advance at least ten yards in four downs or plays; if they fail, they turn over the football to the defense, but if they succeed, they are given a new set of four downs to continue the drive. Points are scored primarily by advancing the ball into the opposing team's end zone for a touchdown or kicking the ball through the opponent's goalposts for a field goal. Jimmy Webb (American Football)
James "Jimmy" Rogers Webb (born April 13, 1952) is a former American football defensive lineman who played seven seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Football career Webb grew up playing football in central Mississippi, and played in college for the Mississippi State Bulldogs football team from 1972-1974. By his senior season, he was named an All-American on the defensive line. Webb was selected as the 10th pick of the 1975 NFL Draft. After being drafted, he held out for 43 days before signing with the San Francisco 49ers. He would go on to play over 100 games in the NFL. During his second NFL season, Webb was admitted into the first class of the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Webb would attend the college during his offseasons, and graduated with his DVM degree in 1982. 1974 College Football All-America Team
The 1974 College Football All-America team is composed of college football players who were selected as All-Americans by various organizations and writers that chose College Football All-America Teams in 1974. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) recognizes five selectors as "official" for the 1974 season. Michael Darwin Fuller (born April 7, 1953) is an American former professional football player who was a safety for eight seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Auburn Tigers. Fuller grew up in Mobile, Alabama, where he played football for John Shaw High School.
