1972 Japan Soccer League
The 1972 season in Japanese football introduced a Second Division to the Japan Soccer League. Nine clubs were chosen from the 1971 Japanese Regional Leagues; when Nagoya Mutual Bank resigned from the League, a tenth club was chosen from the Kansai League. League tables JSL First Division No relegation took place as the First Division was being expanded to 10 clubs. JSL Second Division Toyota Motors, later one of the Japanese big names as Nagoya Grampus, was crowned the inaugural Second Division champion. Tanabe Pharmaceutical, a club from Osaka, followed them into the expanded 10-team First Division. No relegations took place, to keep the Second Division at 10 clubs. Japan Soccer League
, or JSL, was the top flight association football league in Japan between 1965 and 1992, and was the precursor to the current professional league, the J.League. JSL was the second national league of a team sport in Japan after the professional Japanese Baseball League that was founded in 1936. JSL was the first-ever national league of an amateur team sport in Japan. Unlike in baseball, however, promotion and relegation was followed, as J.League follows today. Tanabe Mitsubishi Pharmaceutical Soccer Club was a Japanese football club based in Osaka that belonged to Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma. The club played in Japan Soccer League (Japanese former top division) for one season in 1973. It last played in the Osaka Prefectural Leagues. Tanabe Pharmaceutical co-founded both the second tier ( 1972 Japan Soccer League Second Division) and third tier ( 1992 Japan Football League Division Two) of Japanese football with neighbors Kyoto Sanga FC and Vissel Kobe. However, unlike them, they never became a J. League club nor won the Emperor's Cup, though they came close in 1980 - the first finalist from the second tier. History The club was formed in 1946 under its parent company's then-official English name ''Toyoda Automatic Loom Works'', and co-founded the original Japan Soccer League (JSL) in 1965 (''"Original Eight"''). In the first three seasons of the league the club struggled and was relegated in 1967 when it lost a promotion/relegation series to neighbors and also JSL co-founders Nagoya Mutual Bank, who had been relegated themselves the year before and were looking to get back into the top division again. is a Japanese football club from Kōfu in Yamanashi Prefecture. The team currently competes in the J2 League and play their home games in JIT Recycle Ink Stadium, located in Kōfu. The word "Ventforet" is a compound formed from two French root words: "vent" (wind) and "forêt" (forest). The name alludes to the famous phrase Fū-rin-ka-zan (風林火山）that Takeda Shingen, a prominent Kōfu-based ''daimyō'' in the Sengoku period, emblazoned on his war banners.
