1972 ECAC Hockey Men's Ice Hockey Tournament
The 1972 ECAC Hockey Men's Ice Hockey Tournament was the 11th tournament in league history. It was played between March 7 and March 11, 1972. Quarterfinal games were played at home team campus sites, while the 'final four' games were played at the Boston Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. By reaching the championship game both, Boston University and Cornell received invitations to participate in the 1972 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. Format The tournament featured three rounds of play, all of which were single-elimination. The top eight teams, based on winning percentage, qualified to participate in the tournament. In the quarterfinals the first seed and eighth seed, the second seed and seventh seed, the third seed and sixth seed and the fourth seed and fifth seed played against one another. List Of ECAC Hockey All-Tournament Team
The ECAC Hockey All-Tournament Team is an honor bestowed at the conclusion of the conference tournament to the players judged to have performed the best during the championship. Currently the team is composed of three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender with additional players named in the event of a tie. Mark Noonan (born 1965) is an American sports executive who serves as commissioner of the Canadian Premier League (CPL) and CEO of Canada Soccer Business. Previously Noonan held marketing executive positions with the United States Soccer Federation and Major League Soccer as well as serving as CEO of Accra Hearts of Oak, a Ghanaian soccer club. James Donald Higgs (born 11 July 1950) is a former Australian leg spinner who played in 22 Test matches between 1978 and 1981. Lawrence James Fullan (born August 11, 1949) is a Canadian former ice hockey forward. Signed as a free agent in 1972 by the Montreal Canadiens, Fullan never played with the parent club and was left exposed in the 1974 NHL Expansion Draft where he was claimed by the Washington Capitals. He played just four games for the Capitals and spent most of the next two years in the minors before retiring from active professional play in 1976.
