Triple Jump
The triple jump, sometimes referred to as the hop, step and jump or the hop, skip and jump, is a track and field event, similar to the long jump. As a group, the two events are referred to as the "horizontal jumps". The competitor runs down the track and performs a hop, a bound and then a jump into the sand pit. The triple jump was inspired by the ancient Olympic Games and has been a modern Olympics event since the Games' inception in 1896. According to World Athletics rules, "the hop shall be made so that an athlete lands first on the same foot as that from which he has taken off; in the step he shall land on the other foot, from which, subsequently, the jump is performed." Joachim Kugler
Joachim Kugler (born 19 September 1947) is a German triple jumper. He finished eleventh in the men's triple jump at the 1968 Summer Olympics, won the 1968 CISM Military World Championships, finished ninth at the 1971 European Championships and ninth at the 1973 European Indoor Championships. He became West German champion in 1974 and 1975; won silver medal in 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1976 and bronze medals in 1966 and 1968. Aşkın Tuna (born 21 July 1940) is a Turkish triple jumper. Career He competed at the 1964 Summer Olympics, the 1968 Summer Olympics, the 1966 European Championships and the 1971 European Championships, as well as the 1966 and 1967 European Indoor Games without reaching the final. Henrik Kalocsai
Henrik Kalocsai (; 28 November 1940 – 22 May 2012) was a Hungary, Hungarian athlete who specialized in the triple jump and long jump. He won the gold medal at the 1965 Summer Universiade, the bronze medal at the 1966 European Championships in Athletics, 1966 European Championships and the silver medal at the 1967 European Indoor Games. He became the Hungarian triple jump champion in 1962, 1963, 1965, 1967, 1968, 1970, 1971 and 1973, rivalling with Drágán Ivanov, Zoltán Cziffra and Gábor Katona. In the long jump he finished sixth at the 1970 European Indoor Championships in Athletics, 1970 European Indoor Championships. He became Hungarian long jump champion in every year from 1960 to 1971, except for 1964 and 1968 when Béla Margitics won. He also became indoor champion in 1974. References

Giuseppe Gentile (born 4 September 1943) is a retired Italian triple jumper, who won a bronze medal at the 1968 Summer Olympics. Józef Szmidt
Józef Szmidt (born 28 March 1935 as Josef Schmidt) is a former Polish athlete. He was born in Miechowitz, Beuthen, Province of Upper Silesia, Germany. With a jump of 17.03m in 1960, Szmidt was the first triple jumper to reach 17 metres. Biography Szmidt, a mechanic by profession, was the world's leading triple jumper in the early 1960s, becoming European champion in 1958 and 1962, and Olympic champion in 1960 and 1964. The two latter years he was awarded the ''Sportsman of the Year'' prize in Poland. In 1975 Szmidt settled in West Germany, but returned to Poland in 1992.
