1969–70 Illinois Fighting Illini Men's Basketball Team
The 1969–70 Illinois Fighting Illini men's basketball team represented the University of Illinois. Regular season The 1969-70 basketball season for head coach Harv Schmidt saw his team enter the collegiate top 25 rankings in December, only to fall back off the chart in February. The team was led in scoring for the season by Greg Jackson, Mike Price and Rick Howat. Price would finish his senior season by being named on the Converse honorable mention All-American team. The Fighting Illini would go on to finish the season with a 15-9 overall record and tied for 3rd place in the conference with an 8–6 record. Harv Schmidt
Harvard Schmidt (September 25, 1935 – April 7, 2020) was an American professional basketball player and coach. A , small forward from Kankakee, Illinois. Schmidt attended the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, where he played from 1954–1957 for the men's basketball team. He also coached the Fighting Illini men's basketball team for seven years from 1967 to 1974. Schmidt averaged 12.3 points per game for his collegiate career, playing in 65 games. He was selected in the second round (11th pick overall) of the 1957 NBA Draft by the Minneapolis Lakers. Edwardsville Senior High School is a public high school located in Edwardsville, Illinois. History Edwardsville High School was first located on North Kansas Street in downtown Edwardsville. Due to the expansion of the town, a new high school was commissioned in 1921. Today, the first building is Columbus Elementary School. The second Edwardsville High School was completed in 1925, on 145 West Street. Rather than rebuild a bigger school, it was expanded over the years to meet the demands of the growing school district. Blue Island is a city in Cook County, Illinois, located approximately south of Chicago's Loop.
