The National Hockey League (NHL; , ''LNH'') is a professional ice hockey league in North America composed of 32 teams25 in the United States and 7 in Canada. Marshall Johnston
Lawrence Marshall Johnston (born June 6, 1941) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player, coach and executive. He played as a defenceman for the Minnesota North Stars and California Golden Seals of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has also coached in the NHL for the California Golden Seals, Colorado Rockies, and served as general manager of the Ottawa Senators. He was inducted into the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame in 1998. Career Johnston was an All-American player at the University of Denver before his NHL career and later coached the Pioneers from 1977 to 1981. He also represented Canada at the 1964 and 1968 Olympic Games, serving as team captain in 1968. Canada, Czechoslovakia, and Sweden finished with identical records of five wins and two losses at the 1964 Winter Olympics. Bill Plager
William Ronald Plager (July 6, 1945 — January 3, 2016) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. Plager started his National Hockey League (NHL) career with the Minnesota North Stars in 1967–68 NHL season, 1967. He also played for the St. Louis Blues and Atlanta Flames. He left the NHL after the 1975–76 NHL season, 1976 season. Personal life Before playing in the National Hockey League, Plager played for the Peterborough Petes in Peterborough, Ontario, where he met his wife Donna Hickey. After retiring from the NHL, Plager returned to Peterborough with Donna, sons William Jr., Brett and daughter Dara. Plager is the brother of former NHL players/coaches Bob Plager and Barclay Plager. Bryan Watson (ice Hockey)
Bryan Joseph Watson (November 14, 1942 – July 8, 2021) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played 16 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played for the Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings, Oakland Seals, Pittsburgh Penguins, St. Louis Blues, and Washington Capitals from 1963 to 1979, and briefly in the World Hockey Association with the Cincinnati Stingers. He later served as head coach of the Edmonton Oilers during the 1980–81 NHL season. Early life Watson was born in Bancroft, Ontario, on November 14, 1942. Larry Jeffrey
Lawrence Joseph Jeffrey (October 12, 1940 – July 18, 2022) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player, who played forward. He played for the Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, and New York Rangers of the National Hockey League from 1961 to 1969. Jeffrey was a member of the 1967 Stanley Cup-winning Maple Leafs. Career Jeffrey was from Goderich, Ontario. He began playing junior ice hockey in 1956, spending five years with the Hamilton Tiger Cubs and Hamilton Red Wings of the Ontario Hockey Association. He then played for the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), and the Edmonton Flyers of the Western Hockey League (WHL). He won the WHL's rookie of the year award. Dunc McCallum
Duncan Selbie McCallum (March 29, 1940 – March 31, 1983) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played 187 games in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers, and Pittsburgh Penguins, and 100 games in the World Hockey Association with the Chicago Cougars, Houston Aeros from 1966 to 1975. He was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba. After his playing career, McCallum coached the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League for five seasons, winning Coach of the Year honours in two of them; the Coach of the Year trophy was renamed the Dunc McCallum Memorial Trophy in his honour after his death. George Konik
George Samuel Konik (May 4, 1937 – October 21, 2016) was a Canadian-born American professional ice hockey player. He grew up in his hometown of Flin Flon where he graduated from high school. He played hockey from the peewee to junior level winning a Canadian junior championship with the Flin Flon Bombers in 1957. He also was a catcher in baseball and won the batting title in the senior Polar League in 1958. He played 52 games in the National Hockey League with the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 1967–68 season and 54 games in the World Hockey Association with the Minnesota Fighting Saints during the 1972–73 season. Internationally he played for the American national team at the 1970 and 1971 World Championships. He played in the National Hockey League for the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, California Golden Seals, and Buffalo Sabres. Rod Seiling
Rodney Albert Seiling (born November 14, 1944) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. Rod is the brother of Ric Seiling. Playing career Signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1962, Seiling played only one game with the Leafs and spent most of his time as a Toronto prospect in the minors. The next year, he represented Canada at the 1964 Winter Olympics, where they finished in fourth place. He was traded to the New York Rangers, where he would remain for the next decade, except for a brief claim by the St. Louis Blues in the 1967 NHL Expansion Draft, after which he was immediately traded back to the Rangers. His defensive abilities eventually helped guide the Rangers to the 1972 Stanley Cup Finals. He was a member of Team Canada in the 1972 Summit Series.
