1967–68 Iowa State Cyclones Men's Basketball Team
The 1967–68 Iowa State Cyclones men's basketball team represented Iowa State University during the 1967–68 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cyclones were coached by Glen Anderson, who was in his ninth season with the Cyclones. They played their home games at the Iowa State Armory in Ames, Iowa. Don Smith (later known as Zaid Abdul-Aziz) won Big Eight Conference Player of the Year. They finished the season 12–13, 8–6 in Big Eight play to finish tied for third place. Iowa State Armory was a 7,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Ames, Iowa. It was home to the Iowa State University Cyclones basketball team until Hilton Coliseum opened in 1971. Edwin W. Pauley Pavilion, commonly known as Pauley Pavilion, is an indoor arena located in the Westwood Village district of Los Angeles, California, on the campus of UCLA. It is home to the UCLA Bruins men's and women's basketball teams. The men's and women's volleyball and women's gymnastics teams also compete here. The building, designed by architect Welton Becket, was dedicated in June 1965, named for University of California Regent Edwin W. Pauley, who had matched the alumni contributions. Pauley donated almost one fifth of the more than $5 million spent in constructing the arena. The Missouri Tigers men's basketball team represents the University of Missouri in the SEC. Prior to the 2012–2013 season, the basketball team represented the school in the Big 12 Conference. The Big Eight Conference sponsored championships in 21 sports (11 men's and 10 women's) at various times during its existence from 1907 to 1996. Municipal Auditorium is a multi-purpose facility located in Kansas City, Missouri. It opened in 1935 and features Streamline Moderne and Art Deco architecture and architectural details. Background Municipal Auditorium was the first building built as part of the "Ten-Year Plan", a bond program that passed by a 4 to 1 margin in 1931. The campaign was run by the Civic Improvement Committee chaired by Conrad H. Mann. Other buildings in the plan included the Kansas City City Hall and the Kansas City branch of the Jackson County Courthouse. The plan was championed by most local politicians including Thomas Pendergast and provided Pendergast with many patronage opportunities during the Great Depression. Colorado Buffaloes Men's Basketball
The Colorado Buffaloes men's basketball team represents the University of Colorado Boulder. The team competes in the Pac-12 Conference of NCAA Division I. They are currently coached by Tad Boyle. Alumni Hall was a 5,308-seat multi-purpose arena in Chicago on DePaul's Lincoln Park campus. History Alumni Hall was dedicated on December 16, 1956, and was owned and operated by DePaul University. It replaced the University Auditorium, the school's prior on-campus gym. A student-led fundraising campaign raised $25,000 over five weeks. This covered part of the building cost, which totaled $2 million. Construction began on Oct. 3 in 1955 and finished in December 1956. The 44-year-old building consisted of classrooms, offices, an arena, a gymnasium with 5,200 seats, a swimming pool, locker rooms, handball courts and a cafeteria. The DePaul Blue Demons men's basketball program is the NCAA Division I intercollegiate men's basketball program of DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. The Drake Bulldogs men's basketball team represents Drake University, located in Des Moines, Iowa, in NCAA Division I basketball competition and is coached by Darian DeVries. The program is best known for making the 1969 Final Four. History The early years (1906–1959) The first season Drake fielded a men's basketball team was 1906–07. The Bulldogs finished with a 2–1 record as an independent. The next year, during the 1907–08 season, they were charter members of the Missouri Valley Conference. Drake went on to dominate the 1930s, winning three conference titles in the decade (1934–35, 1935–36, and 1938–39).
