12th Parliament Of Turkey
The 12th Grand National Assembly of Turkey existed from 15 October 1961 to 1 October 1965. Actually there is one other parliament between the 11th Parliament of Turkey and the 12th parliament of Turkey. But the members of the chamber of deputies in 1960–61 term were appointed members rather than elected members and usually chamber of deputies is not included in the list of the parliaments in Turkey. According to the new constitution, there were two houses in the parliament. There were 450 MPs in the lower house ; Republican People's Party (CHP) with 173 MPs, Justice Party (AP) with 158 MPs, New Turkey Party (YTP) with 65 MPs and Republican Villagers Nation Party with 54 MPs. 1964 Manyas Earthquake
The 1964 Manyas earthquake happened on October 6 on the southern coast of Marmara Sea near the city of Karacabey in Bursa Province, Turkey. The shock had a moment magnitude of 6.8 and a maximum Mercalli intensity of IX (''Violent''). Around $5 million in damage was caused, with 19–73 killed and 100–239 injured. Women in Turkey have an active participation in national politics, and the number of women in the Turkish parliament has been increasing steadily in recent elections. Background The Republic of Turkey was founded on the ashes of the Ottoman Empire on 29 October 1923. Although the political influence of some Valide Sultans (queen mothers) over the Ottoman Sultans was considerable, especially during the era known as the Sultanate of Women, women had no chance to serve in any official political post in the Ottoman era. One notable female political activist in the first days of the Republican era was Nezihe Muhiddin, who founded the first women's party in Turkey in June 1923; however, it was never legalized because the Republic was not officially declared yet. Halide Edib Adıvar ( ota, خالده اديب , sometimes spelled Halidé Edib in English; 11 June 1884 – 9 January 1964) was a Turkish novelist, teacher, ultranationalist and feminist intellectual. Sertab Erener (born 4 December 1964) is a Turkish singer, songwriter and composer. With her coloratura soprano voice, she started working as a backing vocalist for Sezen Aksu, and with Aksu's help she released her first studio album in the 1990s. Because of her education in classical music, she initially had difficulties in performing pop music. Although she did experimental works from time to time, she eventually preferred to focus on making pop music instead of making avant-garde works, in order to make her music heard by a larger audience. Semih Saygıner (born on November 12, 1964), nicknamed Mr. Magic or The Turkish Prince, is a Turkish people, Turkish world champion professional carom billiards player specialized in three-cushion billiards, three-cushion event. Suat Atalık (born October 10, 1964) is a Turkish-Bosnian chess grandmaster. He is a three-time Turkish Chess Champion. Yavuz Bingöl
Yavuz Bingöl (born 7 October 1964) is a Turkish folk music singer and actor. Early life Bingöl was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1964 to teacher Yılmaz Bingöl and folk singer Senem Akkaş (better known with her stage name Şahsenem Bacı), both hailing from Sarıkamış district.
