The 1964 United States House of Representatives election in Wyoming was held on November 3, 1964, to elect the United States representative from Wyoming's at-large congressional district. Incumbent Republican Representative William Henry Harrison III sought reelection to a fifth term, but was defeated by Democratic nominee Teno Roncalio. Teno Roncalio
Teno Domenico Roncalio (March 23, 1916 – March 30, 2003), born Celeste Domenico Roncaglio, was an American politician and writer who served in the United States House of Representatives. To date, he is the last Democrat to have represented Wyoming in the House of Representatives. During the 1950s and 1960s, Roncalio served in multiple positions within the Wyoming Democratic Party. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1964, and served until he unsuccessfully ran for the United States Senate in 1966. Roncalio was elected to the House of Representatives in 1970, and served until he announced that he would not seek reelection in 1978. Edgar Herschler
Edgar Jacob Herschler (October 27, 1918 – February 5, 1990) was an American politician and attorney who served as the 28th Governor of Wyoming from 1975 to 1987. A member of the Democratic Party, he is the longest-serving Governor of Wyoming with three full terms; since a two-term limit for governors was approved by a ballot initiative in 1992, he has remained as such. Early life Edgar Jacob Herschler was born in Kemmerer, Wyoming on October 27, 1918, to Edgar Fuller Herschler and Charlotte Jenkins. During his childhood, he was initially taught at his family's ranch before later attended high school in Kemmerer. In 1941, he graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Law. In 1949, he earned his LL.B from the University of Wyoming. The 1962 United States House of Representatives elections was an election for the United States House of Representatives in 1962, which occurred in the middle of President John F. Kennedy's term. As in most midterm elections, Kennedy's Democratic Party lost seats to the opposition Republican Party, but retained a majority. House Democrats were expected to lose their majority, but the resolution over the Cuban Missile Crisis just a few weeks prior led to a rebound in approval for the Democrats under President Kennedy. The number of seats up for election went back to 435, in accordance with reapportionment resulting from the 1960 census. The membership had been increased temporarily to 437 in 1959, providing 1 seat each for the new states of Alaska and Hawaii, while the other 435 seats continued with the reapportionment resulting from the 1950 census. Charles William Nation (May 28, 1925 – April 13, 2022), better known as Bill Nation, was an American politician who served as the 45th and 50th Mayor of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and in the Wyoming House of Representatives as a member of the Democratic Party. He unsuccessfully sought the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in 1966 and election as Laramie County Clerk in 1970. Early life Charles William Nation was born in Lingle, Wyoming on May 28, 1925. Harry Edward Leimback (October 5, 1925 – April 15, 2011) was an American judge and politician from Wyoming. Harry Leimback was born in Joliet, Montana, on October 5, 1925, to parents Bessy and Claude Leimback. Leimback was raised in Casper, Wyoming, where he attended Natrona County High School. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of World War II within the United States Navy upon high school graduation in 1943. Leimback enrolled at Casper College following the end of his military service. In 1948, he married Melda Christiansen, and the couple moved to Laramie, where Leimback studied at the University of Wyoming College of Law. Leimback began his legal practice in Casper in 1951. Subsequently, mayor Tom Nicolas named Leimback a judge of the municipal court. Leimback later served as deputy Natrona County attorney alongside Ray Whitaker. Harrison grew up in Indiana, and was educated in Omaha, Nebraska and Washington, D.C.
