Roy Emerson
Roy Stanley Emerson (born 3 November 1936) is an Australian former tennis player who won 12 Grand Slam singles titles and 16 Grand Slam doubles titles, for a total of 28 Grand Slam titles. He is the only male player to have completed a career Grand Slam (winning titles at all four Grand Slam events) in both singles and doubles, and the first of four male players to complete a double career Grand Slam in singles (later followed by Rod Laver, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal). His 28 major titles are the all-time record for a male player. He was ranked world No. 1 amateur in 1961 by Ned Potter, 1964 by Potter, Lance Tingay and an Ulrich Kaiser panel of 14 experts and 1965 by Tingay, Joseph McCauley, Sport za Rubezhom and an Ulrich Kaiser panel of 16 experts. Brian Bowman (tennis)
Brian Leslie Bowman (born July 22, 1946) is an American virtuoso euphonium artist and music professor who, among other things, held the principal euphonium chair and was a featured soloist with the premier concert bands of the United States Navy and Air Force. On March 28, 1976, Bowman performed the first euphonium recital at Carnegie Hall. Early life and education Bowman was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He earned a bachelor of music degree (June 1970) and master of music degree (August 1970) from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance in Ann Arbor. He earned a doctor of musical arts from the Catholic University of America School of Music (1975). Career Bowman served as a member of three United States military bands, two of which were premier ensembles for their respective services. John O'Brien (born 6 July 1932) is an Australian tennis player active during the 1950s and 1960s. O'Brien was also one of the 18 hostages in the 2014 Sydney hostage crisis. Tennis career O'Brien played the first of ten Australian Championships in 1951. As a singles player, he made eight appearances in the Round of 32 and two in the Round of 64. William Coghlan born (6 March 1941) is a former tennis player from Australia. He was active from 1958 to 1979 and won 22 career singles titles. Biography Coghlan won the junior title at the 1960 Australian Championships. A Melbourne real estate agent by profession, he made regular appearances at his home grand slam tournament, twice making the third round. Richard Russell (tennis)
Richard Russell (born 8 September 1945) is a Jamaican former professional tennis player. Biography Russell is the only Jamaican to progress past the first round at all four grand slam tournaments. At the 1966 Australian Championships he won his first round match over Richie Chopra, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0. Russell won the 1966 Kingston International Championships at Kingston, Jamaica defeating Arthur Ashe in the final in three sets. This was an annual tournament in the international circuit and Russell would be the only Jamaican to win the event. Outside of grand slam competition, he had a noted win over Dennis Ralston in 1972 at an invitational tournament in Puerto Rico. In the mid-1960s, after being unable to secure special coaching from the LTA, he emigrated to Australia to work as a freelance photographer.
