1963 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships
The 1963 Ice Hockey World Championships was the 30th edition of the Ice Hockey World Championships. The tournament was held in Stockholm, Sweden from March 7 to March 17, 1963. The Soviet Union won the tournament for the third time, starting their roll of nine straight championships. For the Soviets it was also their seventh European title. A new tie-breaking method was introduced, if there was a tie for a medal, it would be broken by the goal differential between only the top five placed nations. The Swedes, on the final day, had nearly everything possible go against them. If they had won or tied against Czechoslovakia, or if Canada could have won or tied against the Soviets, or if the Americans had beaten the East Germans, they would have been crowned champions. The Czechoslovaks propelled themselves past Canada on the final day to capture the Bronze. Hal Jones (ice Hockey)
Harold Gordon Jones (July 22, 1933 – October 20, 2022), was a Canadian ice hockey player with the Trail Smoke Eaters. He represented Canada twice in the Ice Hockey World Championships and won a gold medal at the 1961 World Ice Hockey Championships in Switzerland. He also played in the 1963 World Ice Hockey Championships in Sweden, where he led the 1963 tournament in scoring with 12 points. During his playing career he also played with the Lethbridge Native Sons, Marion Barons, Cleveland Barons, Toledo Mercurys, Rossland Warriors, and New Westminster Royals." Kjell Svensson
Kjell Gustaf Svensson (born 10 September 1938) is a retired Swedish ice hockey goaltender. He competed at the 1960 and 1964 Olympics and finished in fifth and second place, respectively. He won the world title in 1962, finishing second in 1963 and 1967 and third in 1965. Nationally he won only one title, with Södertälje SK in 1956, but was selected to the Swedish all-star teams in 1960–61 and 1963–64.
