1962–63 Washington Huskies Men's Basketball Team
The 1962–63 Washington Huskies men's basketball team represented the University of Washington for the 1962–63 NCAA University Division basketball season. Led by fourth-year head coach John Grayson, the Huskies were members of the Athletic Association of Western Universities The Pac-12 Conference is a collegiate athletic conference, that operates in the Western United States, participating in 24 sports at the NCAA Division I level. Its football teams compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS; formerly Division ... (Big Five) and played their home games on campus at Hec Edmundson Pavilion in Seattle, Washington. The Huskies were overall in the regular season and in conference play, tied for third in the standings. Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion (formerly and still commonly referred to as Hec Edmundson Pavilion or simply Hec Ed) is an indoor arena in the northwest United States, on the campus of the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. Jim Owens
James Donald Owens (March 6, 1927 – June 6, 2009) was an American football player and coach. He was the head coach at the University of Washington from 1957 to 1974, compiling a record of in 18 seasons. Owens played college football at the University of Oklahoma from 1946 to 1949, under head coach Bud Wilkinson, where he was a teammate of Darrell Royal, who, coincidentally, was the Huskies' head coach in 1956 Washington Huskies football team, 1956, then took the same post at Texas Longhorns football, Texas, allowing Owens to come to Seattle.
