The 1962–63 1re série season was the 42nd season of the 1re série, the top level of ice hockey in France. Eight teams participated in the first round, and Chamonix Hockey Club won their 19th league title. Ligue Magnus
The Ligue Magnus, currently known as Synerglace Ligue Magnus for sponsorship reasons, is the top men's division of the French ice hockey pyramid, established in 1906. The league operated under a variety of names before taking that of its championship trophy, the Magnus Cup, in 2004. The trophy was in turn named for Frenchman and IIHF founder Louis Magnus. Format 12 teams play a 44-game regular season. The schedule is fully balanced and there are no geographic conferences. Regulation wins are worth 3 points, as per international rules. The top 8 teams qualify for the Magnus Cup playoffs, with all series contested in a best-of-seven format. The remaining 4 teams play a 6-game round-robin, at the end of which the last-place team is relegated. The Magnus Cup champions qualify for the following season's Champions Hockey League. Chamonix Hockey Club
Chamonix Hockey Club was a French professional ice hockey team based in Chamonix that last played in the Ligue Magnus in 2015. The team is also known as "Chamois de Chamonix" (Chamonix Chamois). With 30 championship titles, Chamonix was the most successful French club in ice hockey. The team was founded in 1910. In 2010, the club celebrated its 100th birthday. In 2016, the team merged with Pingouins de Morzine-Avoriaz to form the Pionniers De Chamonix-Morzine. Athletic Club De Boulogne-Billancourt (ice Hockey)
AC Boulogne-Billancourt is an ice hockey team in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. ACBB currently plays in the FFHG Division 3, the fourth level of French ice hockey. They are a member of the Athletic Club de Boulogne-Billancourt association. The hockey section was created in 1952. History ACBB enjoyed success in the Ligue Magnus (then known as the 1re série) in the 1950s and 1960s, winning three league titles and finishing as runner-up seven times. They also won the Spengler Cup three years in a row from 1959 to 1961. The club forfeited the entire 1971-72 season after playing in only one game.
