Andrew Levane
Andrew Joseph "Fuzzy" Levane (April 11, 1920 – April 30, 2012) was an American professional basketball player and coach. A 6'2" guard, he played collegiately at St. John's University. He spent three years in the NBA and its predecessor league, the Basketball Association of America, playing for the Rochester Royals, the Syracuse Nationals and the Milwaukee Hawks. In his final year with the Hawks he was a player-coach. Levane coached the Hawks for one additional season, then coached the New York Knickerbockers. He returned to the Hawks, now playing in St. Louis, for a final season in 1962. Levane's son, Neil, a.k.a. Fuzzy, was a basketball star at Great Neck South high school on Long Island, New York from 1963 to 1967. Following his senior season, he was listed as a fifth-team Parade Magazine All-American. Richie Guerin
Richard Vincent Guerin (born May 29, 1932) is an American former professional basketball player and coach. He played with the National Basketball Association's (NBA) New York Knicks from 1956 to 1963 and was a player-coach of the St. Louis/Atlanta Hawks franchise where he spent nine years. On February 15, 2013, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced that Guerin had been elected as one of its 2013 inductees. He served in the Marine Corps Reserve from 1947 to 1954. While a reservist, Guerin attended Iona College from 1950 to 1954 where he scored 1,375 points in 67 games playing for coach Jim McDermott. After graduation, Guerin served on active duty at Marine Corps Schools, Quantico, Virginia for two years. The Knicks drafted Guerin with the 8th pick in the second round of the 1954 NBA draft while still on active duty. All-NBA Second Team
The All-NBA Team is an annual National Basketball Association (NBA) honor bestowed on the best players in the league following every NBA season. The voting is conducted by a global panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. The team has been selected in every season of the league's existence, dating back to its inaugural season in 1946. James G. Palmer (June 8, 1933 – September 16, 2013) was an American professional basketball player. Palmer was selected in the 1957 NBA draft (second round, 12th overall) by the St. Louis Hawks. He played collegiately at the University of Dayton from 1954 to 1957 before embarking on his professional basketball career. Richard Eugene Garmaker (October 29, 1932 – June 13, 2020) was an American basketball player who played professionally in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1955 to 1961. College career Garmaker was a 6'3" guard/forward from the University of Minnesota. He was a 1955 consensus All-American for the Golden Gophers, along with Sihugo Green (Duquesne), Tom Gola (LaSalle), Bill Russell (San Francisco) and Dick Ricketts (Duquesne). Charlie Tyra
Charles E. Tyra ( ; August 16, 1935 – December 29, 2006) was an American basketball player who is best known as the first Louisville Cardinal All-American. He played five seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the New York Knicks and Chicago Packers. Basketball career Tyna attended Atherton High School in Louisville, Kentucky and played collegiately for the Louisville Cardinals from 1953 to 1957. Tyra was a 1957 All-American. John Edwin George, Jr. (November 13, 1928 – January 30, 1989) was an American professional basketball player. He was born in the Pittsburgh suburb of Swissvale, Pennsylvania. George attended St. John's College High School in Washington, D.C. He played basketball and baseball at La Salle University in the early 1950s. He was selected by the Philadelphia Warriors in the 1953 National Basketball Association NBA Draft, Draft and played eight seasons in the league with the Warriors and New York Knicks. Ron Sobieszczyk
Ronald Charles Sobieszczyk (September 21, 1934 – October 23, 2009), known as Ron Sobie, was an American professional basketball player. Sobieszczyk played for coach Ray Meyer at DePaul University from 1953 to 1956. He scored 1,222 points in his college career and participated with the College All-Stars team that toured with the Harlem Globetrotters. After college, he played four seasons in the NBA with the New York Knicks and Minneapolis Lakers, scoring 1,691 points before suffering a knee injury. He then served brief stints with the Washington Generals exhibition team and the Chicago Majors of the ABL. Sobieszczyk later owned Sobie's Bar and Grill in Cicero, Illinois.
