The 1957β58 Michigan Wolverines men's basketball team represented the University of Michigan in intercollegiate basketball during the 1957β58 season. The team finished the season in seventh place in the Big Ten Conference with an overall record of 11β11 and 6β8 against conference opponents. William Perigo was in his sixth year as the team's head coach. Senior Pete Tillotson was the team's leading scorer with 415 points in 22 games for an average of 18.8 points per game. William Perigo
William J. Perigo (September 17, 1911 β February 7, 1990) was an American basketball player and coach. He played college basketball for Western Michigan University from 1931 to 1934 and professional basketball for the Indianapolis Kautskys from 1934 to 1936. Perigo also worked as a basketball coach for more than 25 years. He was the basketball coach at Benton Harbor High School for 13 years and led the team to the Michigan Class A state championship in 1941. He was the head basketball coach at Western Michigan University (1949β1952) and the University of Michigan (1952β1960). In 1983, he was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Pete Tillotson
Peter Sage Tillotson (March 23, 1936 β February 7, 2018) was an American basketball player. He grew up in Ludington, Michigan, and played basketball for Ludington High School from 1951 to 1954 and the University of Michigan from 1955 to 1958. Career Tillotson was born on March 23, 1936, in Shelby, Michigan, to Ivan and Marguerite Tillotson and attended Ludington High School, playing football, basketball and tennis. In three years of Ludington High School varsity basketball, Tillotson scored 1,176 pointsβ179 points as a sophomore, 433 points as a junior and 564 points as a senior. During the 1953β54 season, he averaged 25.6 points per game. In 1952, Tillotson was named to the All-State team and led Ludington to a 21β2 record and a berth in the state finals. Yost Ice Arena
Yost Ice Arena, formerly the Fielding H. Yost Field House, is an indoor ice hockey arena located on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It is the home of the Michigan Wolverines men's ice hockey team which plays in the Big Ten Conference. The building opened in 1923 and was the home of the men's basketball until the Crisler Center opened in 1967. George Lee (basketball)
George C. Lee (born November 23, 1936) is a retired American basketball player and coach. A forward/guard from the University of Michigan, Lee was selected by the Detroit Pistons in the fourth round of the 1959 NBA draft. He had a seven-year career in the NBA, playing two seasons with the Pistons and five with the San Francisco Warriors. He retired from playing in 1968, and coached the Warriors for the next two seasons, before being replaced by Al Attles in 1970.
