The 1957–58 Egyptian Premier League, was the 8th season of the Egyptian Premier League, the top Egyptian professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1948. The season started on 25 October 1957 and concluded on 23 May 1958, and it was the first time that the league table consists of two groups each of 8 clubs. The Egyptian Premier League ( ar, الدوري المصري الممتاز), also known as WE Egyptian Premier League (WE EPL) after the addition of title sponsor WE, is a professional association football league in Egypt and the top level of the Egyptian football league system. The league comprises 18 teams and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Egyptian Second Division. Seasons mostly run from August to May. Unlike most other leagues, all games are played all over the week. The Egyptian Premier League was founded in 1948, unifying the local leagues that had existed previously. 70 clubs have competed in the league since its founding. Al Ahly have won the title 42 times, more than any other club. Their closest rivals, Zamalek, have won the league 14 times. Saleh Selim
Saleh Selim ( ar, صالح سليم) (11 September 1930 - 6 May 2002) was the 10th president of the Egyptian Al Ahly Sporting Club. He also was a famous Egyptian football player and actor. He was nicknamed El Maestro because of his way of leading the Al Ahly football team to many victories. He then became the manager of the team, then member of the board of directors of the club. El-Sayed El-Dhizui
El-Sayed Mohammed Al-Tabei "El-Dhizui" (14 September 1926 – 24 December 1991) was an Egyptian footballer. He was born in Port Said. He competed for Egypt at the 1948 Summer Olympics and the 1952 Summer Olympics. Al-Tabei was given the nickname ''El-Dhizui'' for his likeness to a local-based Italian player called Desi Lucetti. He was first known in his home city of Port Said as ''Desi Al-Saghir'' or Desi Junior, which later changed to ''Deswi'' or ''El-Dhizui''. El Qanah Football Club ( ar, نادي القناة لكرة القدم), also known as Suez Canal, is an Egyptian football club based in Ismailia, Egypt.
