Columbia Lions Men's Basketball
The Columbia Lions basketball team is the basketball team that represents Columbia University in New York City. The school's team currently competes in the Ivy League. The team's last appearance in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament was in 1968. The Lions are led by head coach Jim Engles. Their home games are held in the Levien Gymnasium. Jim Ashmore
James Ashmore (born May 14, 1935) is an American retired basketball player. Playing career Career Ashmore attended Mississippi State University (MSU) from 1954 to 1957 after growing up in New Market, Missouri. He played on the Mississippi State Bulldogs men's basketball, MSU basketball team and was notable for being Mississippi's first college basketball player to score more than 1,000 career Point (basketball), points, scoring a total of 1,918 points. In 1957, Ashmore scored 45 points in a single game. He made 76.6% of his free throws in his 1956–57 season. From 1957–1960 Ashmore played for the Denver-Chicago Truckers of the National Industrial Basketball League. Grady Wallace
Grady A. Wallace (January 20, 1934 – August 17, 2006) was an All-American basketball player for the South Carolina Gamecocks in 1955–56 and 1956–57. As a senior in 1957, Wallace led the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in scoring with 31.3 points per game (ppg), which edged out future Naismith Basketball Hall of Famers Elgin Baylor (29.7) and Wilt Chamberlain (29.6). Wallace was born in Mare Creek (now called Stanville), Kentucky, the son of Rufus and Sudie (Smith) Wallace. He was raised in Betsy Layne in Floyd County and attended Betsy Layne High School from 1949 to 1953. Gary Thompson is a retired American basketball player and broadcaster. He was an NCAA Men's Basketball All-Americans, All-American player at Iowa State Cyclones men's basketball, Iowa State. Following his collegiate career, Thompson played for the Phillips 66ers of the Amateur Athletic Union and had a successful career as a broadcaster. Guy Rodgers
Guy William Rodgers (September 1, 1935 – February 19, 2001) was an American professional basketball player born in Philadelphia. He spent twelve years (1958–1970) in the NBA, and was one of the league's best playmakers in the early to mid-1960s. Rodgers led the NBA in assists twice, and placed second six times. Rodgers was inducted into Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014. Basketball career Rodgers attended Northeast High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, graduating in 1954.
