Robert Picard (judoka)
Robert Rene Joseph Picard (born May 25, 1957) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey player. Career Robert Picard established himself as a highly regarded defensive prospect with the Montreal Juniors and Montreal Bleu Blanc Rouge from 1973 to 1977. He was selected 3rd overall by the Washington Capitals in the 1977 NHL Entry Draft. In Washington, expectations were high due to the team's abysmal performance, and Picard was expected to single-handedly reverse the losing fortunes. Picard played well, but after three seasons of unrealistic expectations he was traded to Toronto in exchange for goaltender Mike Palmateer. Toronto management gave Picard little opportunity to show what he was capable of, sending him to his hometown Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Michel Larocque in March, 1981. Charles Palmer (judoka)
Charles Stuart William Palmer (born in Ealing, West London; 15 April 1930–17 August 2001), OBE was a British martial artist. Palmer was a judo instructor, President of the Budokwai, President of the British Judo Association (1961–1985), President of the International Judo Federation (1965–1979) and Chairman of the British Olympic Association (1983–1988). Palmer was a judoka who attained the sport's highest rank of 10th dan black belt. Sports career Charles Palmer first took an interest in judo at the age of 14 while attending Drayton Manor High School. He joined Ealing Judo Club by claiming that he was 16 years old. In 1948, under the teachings of Gunji Koizumi and Trevor Leggett of the Budokwai, he was awarded the grade of 1st dan black belt. At age 18, Palmer was called up for National Service where served with the Royal Military Police teaching judo. Bernard Pariset
Bernard Pariset (December 21, 1929 – November 26, 2004) was a French judoka and jujitsuka who studied with many Japanese masters including Jigoro Kano's student, Mikonosuke Kawaishi, and his assistant, Shozo Awazu. He was one of the few non-Japanese to reach the level of 9th Dan and has been officially recognized by both the French Judo and Ju-Jitsu Federation (FFJDA) and the IFNB (International Federation Nippon Budo). This title is not officially recognized by the Kodokan. Founder of the Atemi Ju-Jitsu system in the late 1940s, he designed the first judo and jujitsu methodologies still in use at the FFJDA. He was also famous for defeating judo heavyweight Anton Geesink. Nicola Tempesta (28 June 1935 – 20 February 2021) was an Italian judoka who competed at the 1964 and 1972 Olympics. He finished in sixth place in 1964 and was Judo at the 1972 Summer Olympics – Men's +93 kg, disqualified in 1972. Tempesta won more than 10 European medals, including two gold – in 1957 and 1961. Pierre Rigal (born 1973) is a French dancer and choreographer based in Toulouse, France. Life and career Pierre Rigal originally trained to be an athlete in 400m race and 400m hurdles. He studied mathematics and economics at the University of Barcelona and graduated with a master's degree in cinema from École Supérieure d'Audiovisuel de Toulouse in 1997, but became interested in dance after meeting choreographers and directors. In 2002, he joined a dance company, working under the choreographer Gilles Jobin. In 2003 Rigal founded his own Compagnie Dernière Minute.
