Circuit De Spa-Francorchamps
The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (), frequently referred to as ''Spa'', is a motor-racing circuit located in Stavelot, Belgium. It is the current venue of the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix, hosting its first Grand Prix in 1925, and has held a Grand Prix every year since 1985 (except 2003 and 2006). Spa also hosts several other international events including the 24 Hours of Spa, the World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. It is also home to the Uniroyal Fun Cup 25 Hours of Spa, one of the longest motor races in the world. The circuit has undergone several redesigns through its history, most extensively in 1979 when the track was modified and shortened from a circuit using public roads to a permanent circuit due to safety concerns with the old circuit. John Storr (motorcyclist)
Rear Admiral John Storr (18 August 1709 – 10 January 1783) was an officer of the Royal Navy. He served during the Seven Years' War, reaching the rank of Rear admiral of the Red. Early life Storr was born on 18 August 1709 at Humbleton, East Riding of Yorkshire, the son of Joseph Storr. Career Storr was appointed commander on 3 July 1746, and captain on 1 November 1748. He was given command of HMS ''Gloucester'' on 1 November 1748, a position he held until 1753. He was later posted on HMS ''St George'', a 90-gun second-rate ship, in January 1755, a post which he retained until the following year. In 1757 he took command of HMS ''Revenge'' and kept it until 1760. On board, he took part in the Battle of Cartagena on 28 February 1758 off the Spanish port of Cartagena in the Mediterranean. Umberto Masetti (4 May 1926 - 28 May 2006) was an Italian two-time World Champion Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. In 1950, he became the first Italian to win the 500cc World Championship. Career Masetti was born in Borgo delle Rose, in the province of Parma. He debuted in the Grand Prix motorcycle World Championship in 1949 aboard a Moto Morini, in the 125cc class. In the same year he also raced a Benelli in the 250cc class and a Gilera in the 500cc class. In 1950, Masetti won the Grands Prix of Belgium and the Netherlands and defeated Geoff Duke for the 500cc World Championship. In 1952, still with Gilera, he was again World Champion, again taking victories in Belgium and the Netherlands. Pip Harris (6 August 1927 – 22 February 2013), born Peter Valentine Harris, was a British motorcycle racer in the sidecar class. He raced in grasstrack, hardtrack, TT and Grand Prix races over a 27-year career. Early life Born in Staffordshire, Harris followed his father H.F. Harris, known as Curly Harris, a successful AJS works rider, and his brother John, also a motorcycle racer, in their passion for motorcycles.
