The 1953–54 Yugoslav Ice Hockey League season was the 12th season of the Yugoslav Ice Hockey League, the top level of ice hockey in Yugoslavia. Six teams participated in the league, and Partizan have won the championship. Yugoslav Ice Hockey League
The Yugoslav Ice Hockey League was the top ice hockey league in the old Yugoslavia. In 1939, Yugoslavia became a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation. That year also, the country held its first national championship, with Ilirija emerging as champion. For many years, teams from Slovenia dominated even if Serbian and Croatian teams were also successful for a while during the late-1980s and early-1990s, right before the breakup of Yugoslavia. The league folded in 1991, when the country split. Since then, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina have had their own national leagues. Socialist Federal Republic Of Yugoslavia
The Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, commonly referred to as SFR Yugoslavia or simply as Yugoslavia, was a country in Central and Southeast Europe. It emerged in 1945, following World War II, and lasted until 1992, with the breakup of Yugoslavia occurring as a consequence of the Yugoslav Wars. Spanning an area of in the Balkans, Yugoslavia was bordered by the Adriatic Sea and Italy to the west, by Austria and Hungary to the north, by Bulgaria and Romania to the east, and by Albania and Greece to the south. Hokejaški klub Partizan (Serbian Cyrillic: Хокејашки клуб Партизан) is a Serbian professional ice hockey club from Belgrade. HK Partizan is one of the sport clubs that are part of Partizan sport society. They play their home games at the Pionir Ice Hall. The club currently plays in the Serbian Hockey League. HK Partizan has won 20 national championships and three cups, and is the most successful ice hockey team in Serbia. Hokejski klub Acroni Jesenice ( en, Acroni Jesenice Hockey Club), commonly referred to as HK Acroni Jesenice or simply Jesenice, was a Slovenian ice hockey team from Jesenice that last played in the Austrian Erste Bank Hockey League and the Slovenian Ice Hockey League. They played their home games at the Podmežakla Hall. Throughout its history, the club was regarded as one of the most successful clubs in Slovenian and Yugoslav ice hockey. Hokejsko drsalno društvo Olimpija Ljubljana, commonly referred to as HDD Olimpija or simply Olimpija, was a Slovenian professional ice hockey club from Ljubljana. They played their home games at the Tivoli Hall. Olimpija has won 13 Yugoslav championships and 15 Slovenian championships. They won ten consecutive titles between 1995 and 2004. History The club was founded in 1928 as SK Ilirija. It was the first club on the territory of Yugoslavia to play organized ice hockey under the Canadian rules. Hokejaški klub Spartak ( sr-Cyrl, Хокејашки клуб Спартак; en, Spartak Hockey Club) is an ice hockey club from Subotica, Serbia, currently playing in the Serbian Hockey League. It has a few tiers - juniors and adults. The club is a part of the SD Spartak Subotica sports association. History Hockey in Subotica was played before World War II. Back then it was played on the nearby Palić Lake when it was frozen in winter. Club was founded in 1939 under the name SK Palić and as part of SDŽ Spartak in 1945. The first championship match was played in 1941. The construction of artificial ice, since 1969 has helped development of the club. The club has played in the Yugoslav Hockey League, and afterwards in the Serbian Hockey League.
