1950 Swedish Speedway Season
The 1950 Swedish speedway season was the 1950 season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. Individual Individual Championship The 1950 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held on 20 October, in Stockholm. Helge Brinkeback won the Swedish Championship. Team Team Championship Filbyterna won division 1 and were declared the winners of the Swedish Speedway Team Championship for the second time. Piraterna won the A division of the newly created second-tier league. Saxarna won the B division and Vetlanda won the C division. Name changes this season included; SMK Stockholm who became Monarkerna, Smålänningarna who became Dackarna and GEMA who became Kaparna. Two reserve sides also competed under the names of Gastarna (Kaparna B) and Husarerna (Indianerna). 1949 Swedish Speedway Season
The 1949 Swedish speedway season was the 1949 season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. Individual Swedish Individual Speedway Championship, Individual Championship The 1949 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held on 21 October in Stockholm. Olle Nygren won the inaugural Swedish Championship. Team Swedish Speedway Team Championship, Team Championship Vargarna won the league and were declared the winners of the Swedish Speedway Team Championship. The league was increased from seven teams to ten teams with the additions of Dackarna, Smålänningarnaa, Piraterna and Kaparna, GEMA Goteborg. There were also three name changes; Motorsällskapet Stockholm became Getingarna (the Wasps), Nyköping became Griparna (the Grippers) and Vendelsö became Tigrarna. Dackarna
Dackarna is a speedway club from MÃ¥lilla in Sweden who compete in the Swedish Elitserien. Their home track is at the Skrotfrag Arena which has been used as the venue for the Grand Prix of Scandinavia since 2005. History The team was founded in May 1935 as MÃ¥lilla Motorklubb and in 1949 renamed itself Dackarna (in honour of Nils Dacke) and the club began league racing. Dackarna raced in the highest level of league racing in Sweden between 1951 and 1965, winning the league championship in 1957, 1958, 1959, and 1962, and finished as runners-up in 1956 and 1964. Dackarna switched between the first and second league for the next 30 years until 1997 when the team received the backing of a major new sponsor (Svelux) and were renamed Team Svelux. Svelux were taken over by Luxo in 2002 and the team name was changed to Luxo Stars. In 2006 the sponsorship deal expired and the team name reverted to Dackarna. Griparna
Griparna is a speedway club from Nyköping in Sweden, who compete in the Allsvenskan. Their home track is at the Nyköpings Motorstadion which is located to the North of Nyköping. History Griparna Speedway was founded in 1949. The team compete in the second tier of Swedish speedway, now called the Allsvenskan (National League). They won Division 2 North in 1987. Indianerna
Indianerna (the Indians) are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Kumla, Sweden. The club's official name is Kumla MSK and it was founded in 1936 which makes the club one of the oldest motorsport clubs in Sweden. Indianerna was one of the seven teams that competed in Sweden's first speedway league in 1948. The team has won the Swedish Speedway Team Championship two times, in 1990 and 1991. Monarkerna
Hammarby IF Speedway was a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Stockholm, Sweden. The club has not been competing in the domestic leagues since 2016, after their home ground Gubbängens IP was demolished. Their biggest success was winning the bronze medal in Elitserien (speedway), Elitserien in 2007. Vargarna
Vargarna are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Norrköping, Sweden. The team race at the Norrköpings Motorstadion. History The name Vargarna literally translates into English as "The Wolves". The team won the Swedish Speedway Team Championship five times 1949, 1951, 1953, 1954, 1960 and 1961. In recent years the club has moved up and down leagues from the Elitserien to the second tier of Swedish speedway, the Allsvenskan (National League). During the 2022 Swedish Speedway season the club reached the Allsvenskan play off final. Perhaps the club's most notable rider in recent years was the former world champion Nicki Pedersen, who signed for the team in 2010. Vetlanda Speedway
Vetlanda Speedway were a motorcycle speedway team based in Vetlanda, Sweden. Earlier known as Njudungarna and VMS Elit, the club was formed in 1946, and arranged their first meeting three years later. In 2003 when the club was promoted to the top division of Swedish speedway league, the Elitserien (speedway), Elitserien, they changed the name of club to VMS Elit. The current name Vetlanda Speedway was adopted in 2018. On 30 March 2022, Vetlanda Speedway applied for bankruptcy, which was approved by the Eksjö Local Court. The Swedish Speedway Team Championship is the team championship of speedway in Sweden. Season by season History The Championship was introduced in 1950. In 1982 the Championship was renamed with a new league called the Elitserien being introduced. previously the highest league had been known as the Allsvenskan but since 1982 it has been the second tier of Swedish speedway. Between 1986 and 1999 the team that finished top of the league were declared champions because there was no play off.
