1947–48 FC Basel Season
The 1947–48 season was Fussball Club Basel 1893's 54th season in their existence. It was their second season in the top flight of Swiss football after their promotion from the Nationalliga B during the season 1945–46. Basel played their home games in the Landhof, in the Quarter Kleinbasel. Jules Düblin was the club's chairman for the second successive season. Overview Anton Schall was to continue as first team manager, but he died at the age of 40 years, during a workout on the football field, shortly after the pre-season training had begun. Following this unhappy event captain Ernst Hufschmid then took over as player-manager. Basel played a total of 46 games in this season. Fussball Club Basel 1893, widely known as FC Basel, FCB, or just Basel, is a Swiss football club based in Basel, in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. AC Bellinzona
AC Bellinzona is a Swiss football club based in Bellinzona. It was founded in 1904, and won the Swiss Super League in 1948. After being folded in 2013 declaring bankruptcy, the team played the Ticino Group of 2.Liga, the sixth tier of the Swiss Football League System in 2014–15 season. After winning it and the 1. Werner Bopp
Werner Bopp (* 12 February 1924; † 22 October 2006) was a Swiss footballer who played nearly his entire career for FC Basel. He played mainly in the position as defender. Football career Between the years 1944 and 1960 Bopp played a total of 496 games for Basel scoring a total of 20 goals. 321 of these games were in the Nationalliga A, 43 in the Swiss Cup and 132 were friendly games. He scored 13 goal in the domestic league, two in the Swiss Cup and the other five were scored during the test games. In his first season Bopp played in three test games before he played his debut in domestic league game on 18 March 1945 against Lausanne Sports. Basel were relegated at the end of this season, but they achieved immediate promotion the following season. Jean Presset
Jean Presset (* 11 October 1925; † 22 February 2017) was a Swiss footballer who played in the 1940s and 1950s as goalkeeper. Even during his active football career he focused on the youth football training of several clubs, these were FC Lausanne-Sport, FC Basel and BSC Young Boys. After his active football he became member of Panathlon International and in 2004 he was rewarded as an honorary member. Jean Presset was known commonly as "Monsieur Fair Play". Football career Presset played his early active football with Lausanne-Sport. He advanced to their first team in 1947 and stayed with them for three seasons. He joined FC Basel in 1947 as youth trainer and joined their first team as reserve goalkeeper in their 1947–48 season. The Wankdorf Stadium (german: Wankdorfstadion, ) was a football stadium in the Wankdorf quarter of Bern, Switzerland, and the former home of Swiss club BSC Young Boys. It was built in 1925, and as well as serving as a club stadium, it hosted several important matches, including the finals of the 1954 FIFA World Cup, the 1960–61 European Cup, and the 1988–89 European Cup Winners' Cup.
