1946 Pacific Tigers Football Team
The 1946 Pacific Tigers football team was an American football team that represented the College of the Pacific—now known as the University of the Pacific—in Stockton, California as a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) during the 1946 college football season. They had previously competed in the Far Western Conference (FWC) from 1925 to 1942 and as an independent from 1943 to 1945. In their 14th and final season under head coach Amos Alonzo Stagg, the Tigers compiled a record of 4–7 with mark of 2–2 in conference play, tying for second place in the CCAA. At the end of the season, the Tigers were invited to the first, and only Optimist Bowl in Houston, where they lost to North Texas State Teachers. The Tigers played home games at Baxter Stadium in Stockton. California Collegiate Athletic Association
The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level. All of its current members are public universities, and upon UC San Diego's departure on July 1, 2020, all are members of the California State University system (two of them being Cal Polys). It was founded in December 1938 and began competition in 1939. The commissioner of the CCAA is Mitch Cox. CCAA offices are located in Chico, California. Balboa Stadium
Balboa Stadium is an American football and soccer stadium on the west coast of the United States, located in San Diego, California. Just east of San Diego High School, the original stadium was built in 1914 as part of the 1915 Panama–California Exposition, also in Balboa Park, with a capacity of 15,000. Ratcliffe Stadium
Ratcliffe Stadium is a collegiate athletic venue in the western United States, located on the campus of Fresno City College in Fresno, California. Opened in 1926, it was renamed in 1941 after their first football coach, Emory Ratcliffe. The stadium hosted the Raisin Bowl and was home to the Fresno State Bulldogs football team through 1979; they moved to their on-campus Bulldog Stadium in 1980. Ratcliffe also hosted the West Coast Relays, a major track and field competition. Today, local high school football games and various track and field events are still held there.
