The Copa de Competencia Británica George VI was an official Argentine football cup competition, played from 1944 to 1948. It was contested by teams participating in Primera División. The format was a single-elimination tournament and the first editions (1944 and 1945) allowed four semifinalist teams to play the "Copa de la República". The fourth edition was abandoned in the first stage and therefore the Argentine Football Association declared there was not a champion. Rinaldo Fioramonte Martino (; 6 November 1921 – 15 November 2000) was an Italian Argentine forward who played for both the Argentine and the Italy national football teams. Usually a forward, Martino was a player known for his lethal combination of goal scoring ability, playmaking skills and technique. Club career Martino was signed by San Lorenzo de Almagro in 1941 at the age of 19 from Belgrano de Rosario. He made his debut in 1941 against Newell's Old Boys and in 1942 he became the top scorer in the Argentine Primera netting 25 goals in 30 games. In 1946 the team won the Primera División championship. In 1949 Martino moved to Italy joining Juventus and helping them to record their first championship since the 1930s. During his time in Italy he made one appearance for the Italy national team. Ángel Zubieta
Ángel Zubieta Redondo (17 July 1918, died 28 October 1985) was a Spanish football player and manager. Playing career Zubieta was born in Galdakao, Biscay, Basque Country. He started his playing career in the 1935–36 season for Athletic Bilbao at the age of 17. His impressive performances earned him a call-up to the Spain national team in 1936, making him the youngest player ever to play for Spain at the age of only 17 years and 9 months. Later in 1936 the Spanish civil war disrupted his playing career. During the conflict he played for the Basque Country national team. The team undertook a tour of South America and in 1939 Zubieta was signed by Argentine side San Lorenzo de Almagro. Zubieta stayed with the club for 13 seasons, playing 352 games for the club, scoring 29 goals. Mario Fortunato
Mario Francisco Fortunato (1904 – 10 January 1970) was an Argentine football player and manager. Fortunato won three championships as a player with Boca Juniors and went on to lead the club to four Primera División and twp domestic cups as manager. Playing career Club Fortunato began playing for Boca Juniors in 1925, he made his debut on 1 September in a 2–0 win against Palermo. He played for the club until 1926, winning three titles in those years: Copa de Competencia Jockey Club (1925), Primera División (1926) and Copa Estímulo (also in 1926). In 1927 he joined Huracán where he played until 1929. He returned to Boca and played 3 more games for the club in September and October 1929. Fortunato retired early due to a knee injury, but continued to play in the Argentine amateur league with Sportivo Barracas in the 1932 season. Jaime Sarlanga (February 24, 1916 – August 24, 1966) was an Argentine football forward. He played most of his career for Boca Juniors where he won 7 titles and scored 115 league goals, making him the 5th. highest goalscorer in club's history. Mario Emilio Heriberto Boyé Auterio (30 July 1922 – 21 July 1992) was an Argentine footballer. A powerful winger or striker, he played for Boca Juniors, Racing Club de Avellaneda and Huracán in Argentina, Genoa in Italy and Millonarios in Colombia. Nicknamed ''El Atómico'' (The Atomic One), he started playing in the youth division of Boca Juniors to debut in first division on 8 June 1941 in the victory against Independiente, and scoring his first goal a week later against Huracán. With Boca he won the 1943 and 1944 Argentine leagues, and was the league's top-scorer in 1946 with 24 goals. Natalio Agustín Pescia (January 1, 1922 – November 11, 1989) was an Argentine football midfielder, born in Dock Sud district of Avellaneda Partido. Ernesto Lazzatti (25 September 1915 - 30 December 1988) was an Argentina, Argentine Association football, football midfielder and sports journalist.
