The 1945–46 AHL season was the tenth season of the American Hockey League. Eight teams played 62 games each in the schedule. The Indianapolis Capitals won their third F. G. "Teddy" Oke Trophy as West Division champions. The Buffalo Bisons won their third Calder Cup in a four-year span. American Hockey League
The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL). Since the 2010–11 season, every team in the league has an affiliation agreement with one NHL team. When NHL teams do not have an AHL affiliate, players are assigned to AHL teams affiliated with other NHL teams. Twenty-six AHL teams are located in the United States and the remaining six are in Canada. The league offices are located in Springfield, Massachusetts, and its current president is Scott Howson. In general, a player must be at least 18 years of age to play in the AHL or not currently be beholden to a junior ice hockey team. Pittsburgh Hornets
The Pittsburgh Hornets were a minor-league professional men's ice hockey team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Contrary to popular belief, the Pittsburgh Hornets did not evolve from the International Hockey League's Pittsburgh Shamrocks. The franchise started play in 1927, playing their first nine seasons as the Detroit Olympics. Then on October 4, 1936, after winning the IHL championship, the Olympics moved to Pittsburgh to become the Hornets. Bill Anderson and Bill Hudson were the only two players from the Shamrocks to be on the Hornets roster at the start of the 1936–37 season. The Hornets, still a minor-league team for the NHL's Detroit Red Wings, made their debut in the International-American Hockey League in 1936–37. Gino Rozzini
Gino William Rozzini (October 24, 1916 — April 18, 1996) was a Canadian professional ice hockey centre who played 31 games in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins during the 1944–45 season. Wally Wilson (ice Hockey)
Wallace Lloyd Wilson (May 25, 1921 — August 15, 1995) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played 53 games in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins during the 1947–48 season. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1941 to 1948, was spent in the minor leagues. Career Wilson and his parents moved to Oshawa when he was four. He developed his hockey skills in Oshawa and joined the Oshawa Generals for the 1939–1940 season helping lead them to the Memorial Cup Championship. He turned professional with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League in 1941-1942 before joining the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942 and playing for various R.C.A.F. teams the next four years, and joined the Quebec Aces of the Quebec Senior Hockey League to make an Allen Cup appearance in 1944–1945. Joseph Alexander Bell (November 27, 1923 – February 17, 2014) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played 62 games in the National Hockey League. He played with the New York Rangers. Armand Louis Napoleon Trudel (July 21, 1912 – March 19, 1971) was an American-born Canadian professional ice hockey player. Early life Trudel was born in Salem, Massachusetts to Canadian parents who had moved there from Montreal.
