Henri Texier
Henri Texier (born 27 January 1945) is a French jazz double bassist. At the age of sixteen, fascinated by the double bass, Texier became a self-taught bassist, crediting Wilbur Ware most as an influence. He formed his first group with Georges Locatelli, Alain Tabar-Nouval, Jean-Max Albert, and Klaus Hagel, inspired by the music of Don Cherry and Ornette Coleman. In spite of an almost absence of recorded documents this group represents one of the first expressions of free jazz in France (1965). From 1968 to 1972, Textier was a member of Phil Woods And His European Rhythm Machine, along with George Gruntz, Gordon Beck and Daniel Humair. Throughout the 1970s, Texier remained active in Europe on the jazz scene, performing with musicians such as John Abercrombie and Didier Lockwood, among others. Bob Maize
Bob Maize (January 15, 1945 – November 20, 2004) was an American jazz double bassist born and raised in Ontario California. Maize played piano from age seven and switched to bass at 13. After moving to San Francisco in 1963, Maize worked in the house bands of many jazz clubs in the city, including Soulville and Bop City. He played with Sonny Stitt, Philly Joe Jones, Vince Guaraldi, Mose Allison, Herb Ellis, Monty Alexander, Anita O'Day, Emily Remler, and Jon Hendricks; he also did a stint in a rock band as a bass guitarist. He moved to Los Angeles with his family in 1980, where he worked with Concord Jazz All Stars, Scott Hamilton, Dave McKenna, Rosemary Clooney, Mel Tormé and Tal Farlow. Maize also worked with Horace Silver in 1983–84, 1993 (''It's Got to Be Funky'') and 1995–96. He did a tour of Japan and Europe with Sarah Vaughan in 1985. Terje Bjørklund
Terje Bjørklund (born 2 January 1945) is a jazz pianist and composer. He was an active jazz pianist until approximately 1980. From then on he has concentrated on composing. Early life and career Bjørklund was born in Narvik. After obtaining his Master's Degree in Musicology at the University of Oslo in 1971, Bjørklund studied composition with Finn Mortensen at the Norwegian Academy of Music (1971–1973). Bjørklund has collected his experiences as a jazz musician in the text book ''Moderne jazzimprovisasjon''. In 1983 he was awarded the Norwegian Jazz Association's highest award: the Buddy prize, for his efforts within Norwegian jazz life. Bobby Stark
Bobby Stark (January 6, 1906 – December 29, 1945) was an American jazz trumpeter. Stark started playing music at age 15 and played piano, clarinet, saxophone, and alto horn before deciding on trumpet. In the mid-1920s he played with June Clark (1925), Edgar Dowell, Leon Abbey, Duncan Mayers, Bobbie Brown, Bobby Lee, Billy Butler, Charles Turner, McKinney's Cotton Pickers, and Chick Webb, the last in 1926-27. From 1927 to 1933, he played in Fletcher Henderson's Orchestra as a featured soloist. He returned to duty under Chick Webb behind Taft Jordan from 1934 to 1939. After Webb's death, he remained in the orchestra, now under the direction of Ella Fitzgerald. In 1940, he left the group to freelance. In 1942-43, he served in the Army. Sharp then played with Garvin Bushell (1944) and Benny Morton shortly before his death, in New York, at the age of 39. He never led his own recording session. Truman Eliot "Jack" Jenney (May 12, 1910 – December 16, 1945) was an American jazz trombonist. Early life Born in Mason City, Iowa, Jenney first played trumpet, then switched to trombone. His father was a musician and music teacher. Jenney performed in his father's band from age 11, but his professional work began with Austin Wylie in 1928. Career During his career, Jenney worked with Isham Jones, Red Norvo, Artie Shaw, Mal Hallett, and Waring's Pennsylvanians.
