Professional Wrestling
Professional wrestling is a form of theater that revolves around staged wrestling matches. The mock combat is performed in a ring similar to the kind used in boxing, and the dramatic aspects of pro wrestling may be performed both in the ring or—as in televised wrestling shows—in backstage areas of the venue, in similar form to reality television. Professional wrestling as a form of theater evolved out of the widespread practice of match fixing among wrestlers in the early 20th century. Rather than sanction the wrestlers for their deceit as was done with boxers, the public instead came to see professional wrestling as a performance art rather than a sport. Clem Turner
Clem Turner (May 28, 1945 – December 20, 2009) was a professional American football player who played running back for four seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos. He also wrestled professionally in the Midwest, most often in Indianapolis and Detroit, between 1972 and 1975. He died on December 20, 2009 in a car accident. Turner was a running back at Woodward High School, and attended the University of Cincinnati, where he was also a running back. Turner played one season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League in 1967, the year they won the Grey Cup. In the 1969 NFL season, Turner played for the Cincinnati Bengals, and from 1970 to 1972, he played for the Denver Broncos. In 1973, the Buffalo Bills acquired him, where he failed the physical. He then went on to play in the World Football League for the Portland Storm and The Hawaiians. Leati Sika Amituana'i Anoa'i (born April 5, 1945), better known as Sika Anoa'i or simply Sika, is an American Samoan retired professional wrestler. He is best known as one-half of the tag team The Wild Samoans with his brother Afa. Championships held by Anoa'i over the course of his career include the WWF World Tag Team Championship. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007 and the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2012. Ulualoaiga Onosai Tuaolo Emelio (March 9, 1945 – January 9, 2007) was an American Samoan professional wrestler, better known by his ring name, Cocoa Samoa. Professional wrestling career He began his training by studying martial arts in Japan. His had his first matches in Japanese promotions. On November 15, 1982, as Sabu the Wildman, Cocoa partnered with Jimmy Hart to defeat Jerry Lawler in a handicap match for the AWA Southern Heavyweight Championship. Hart got the pin, but Sabu the Wildman was recognized as champion. He, however, was defeated by Terry Taylor for the title two weeks later. Bill White (February 27, 1945 – September 7, 2021) was an American professional wrestler, using the ring name "Wild" Bill White, from 1964 until his retirement in 1987. Professional wrestling career In 1964, while assisting an amateur wrestling coach at a Catholic high school in Florida, in Tampa, he helped professional wrestler Eddie Graham put on a wrestling demonstration at a youth camp.
