1945 Haverford Fords Men's Soccer Team
The 1945 Haverford Fords men's soccer team represented Haverford College during the 1945 ISFL season. It was the Fords 46th season as a varsity program. The Fords finished the 1945 with an undefeated 6-0 record, winning both the Middle Atlantic States Athletic Conference championship, and the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Soccer League championship. Due to World War II, there was no formal national champion declared by ISFA at this time, although the college, along with three other colleges (Army, Navy, and Yale) self-declared themselves as champions for the 1945 ISFA season. This has since been recognized by the American Soccer History Archives as a claimed national title. To date, this is the most recent year Haverford won a national soccer championship at any level. Walton Field
The Haverford Fords compete at the NCAA Division III level in the Centennial Conference. The program has a modest history in collegiate athletics. Haverford boasts the only Varsity team, varsity cricket team in the United States. Its men's and women's track and field and cross country running, cross country teams are perennial powerhouses in their division. The outdoor track and field team won the first 16 Centennial Conference championships, and men's cross country has won all but two Centennial Conference championships. The soccer team is among the nation's oldest, having won its first intercollegiate match in 1905 against Harvard College. The lacrosse team has placed well nationally in the NCAA championships, while Haverford's fencing (sport), fencing team has competed since the early 1930s. Haverford College
Haverford College ( ) is a private liberal arts college in Haverford, Pennsylvania. It was founded as a men's college in 1833 by members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), began accepting non-Quakers in 1849, and became coeducational in 1980. The college offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in 31 majors across humanities, social sciences and natural sciences disciplines. It is a member of the Tri-College Consortium, which includes Bryn Mawr College, Bryn Mawr and Swarthmore College, Swarthmore colleges, as well as the Quaker Consortium, which includes those schools as well as the University of Pennsylvania. Middle Atlantic States Athletic Conference
The Middle Atlantic Conferences (MAC) is an umbrella organization of three athletic conferences that competes in the NCAA's Division III. The 18 member colleges are in the Mid-Atlantic United States. The organization is divided into two main conferences: the MAC Commonwealth and the MAC Freedom. A third conference, named the Middle Atlantic Conference (singular), draws members from both the Commonwealth and Freedom conferences and sponsors sports that only a certain set of members participate in, such as track & field and cross country.
