1936–37 FC Basel Season
The FC Basel 1936–37 season was the forty-fourth season since the club's foundation on 15 November 1893. FC Basel played their home games in the Landhof in the district Wettstein in Kleinbasel. Emil Junker was the new club chairman and it was his second period as chairman, after his short period in 1927. Junker toll over as club president from Franz Rinderer. Overview Heinz Körner was appointed as new team manager. He followed Alwin Riemke who moved to Germany to manage SpVgg Greuther Fürth. Körner had been manager of Aarau the previous season. He was the tenth professional team manager/trainer in Basel's history, their tenth foreign trainer. How long Körner stayed with the club is not clearly stated, but he left during the season, and afterwards Fernand Jaccard took over as player-manager. Ernst Hufschmid (footballer)
Ernst Hufschmid (born 4 February 1913 in Basel – 30 November 2001 in Basel) was a Swiss footballer who played for Basel and Biel-Bienne. He also played for Switzerland in the 1934 FIFA World Cup. He played mainly in the position as midfielder, but in his later career also as defender. Club football Hufschmid played a total of 402 matches for Basel between 1929 and 1950. He scored 83 goals during this time. 268 of these games were in the Nationalliga, 53 in the Swiss Cup and 91 were friendly games. He scored 51 goals in the domestic league, 11 in the Swiss Cup and the other 22 were scored during the test games. He played for six months for Biel-Bienne in 11 games scoring one goal. Louis Favre (Switzerland Footballer)
Louis Favre was a Swiss footballer who played in the 1930s and 1940s. He played as defender. Favre played the 1935–36 Nationalliga season with Young Boys. Favre joined Basel's first team in advance of their 1936–37 season. He played his domestic league debut for his new club in the away game on 13 September 1936 as Basel won 3–1 against Nordstern Basel. Favre played ten seasons for Basel. In the season 1938/39 he and the team suffered relegation to the 1 Liga. Favre scored his first goal for his club on 18 February 1940 in the home game at the Landhof against Concordia Basel. In fact he scored two goals as Basel won 3–2. Although Basel were 1 Liga champions at the end of this season, there was no relegation and no promotion due to the second World War. Robert Büchi (born 1910) was a Swiss footballer who played for St. Gallen and FC Basel during the 1930s. He played as defender Until 1933 Büchi played for St. Gallen. Ernst Kipfer
Ernst Kipfer (3 November 1915 – 7 February 2016) was a Swiss footballer who played for FC Basel and Lausanne-Sport. He played as goalkeeper. Career Kipfer joined FC Basel's first team as reserve goalkeeper in their 1935–36 season. He had one appearance in a test match in August 1935 and played his domestic league debut for the club in the home game at the Landhof on 6 September 1936 as Basel were defeated 0–5 by Biel-Bienne. He was substituted in at half time for Eugène de Kalbermatten. This was his only game for the club at that time. He moved to Lausanne-Sport in 1937 and signed a professional contract. Eugène De Kalbermatten
Eugène de Kalbermatten (1914–1983) was a Swiss footballer who played for FC Sion, FC Basel and Cantonal Neuchatel in the 1930s and 1940s. He played as a goalkeeper. Coming from Sion de Kalbermatten joined Basel's first team in 1935. He played his domestic league debut for his new club in the away game on 8 December 1935 as Basel played a 1–1 draw against Lugano. Stadion Neufeld
Stadion Neufeld is a multi-use stadium in Bern, Switzerland. It is the home ground of FC Bern and the junior team of BSC Young Boys.
