Louisiana–Louisiana Tech Football Rivalry
The Louisiana–Louisiana Tech football rivalry is an inactive American college football rivalry between the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (formerly the Southwestern Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, and known since the 2017–18 school year as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns). The two teams have met 87 times on the football field, with Louisiana Tech currently holding a 48–33–6 lead in the all-time series. After a handful of early meetings, they played virtually every year from 1924 to 2000. The yearly game ended following the Bulldogs' transition to the Western Athletic Conference and the Ragin' Cajuns' to the Sun Belt Conference. Rivalry in Dixie is the name given to the Louisiana Tech–Southern Miss football rivalry. It is a college football rivalry game between the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and Southern Miss Golden Eagles. History Louisiana Tech won the first game of the series 27–0 on November 28, 1935. La Tech and USM were conference foes in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association from 1935 to 1941. Eddie McLane
Lovick Pierce "Eddie" McLane (August 9, 1899 – June 22, 1980) was an American football, basketball, and baseball coach at Anniston High School, Samford University (then named Howard College), and Louisiana Tech University. All three schools where McLane coached are nicknamed the Bulldogs. In McLane's final football season at Samford in 1933, his Bulldogs were Dixie Conference champions.
