List Of Norwegian Monarchs
The list of Norwegian monarchs ( no, kongerekken or ''kongerekka'') begins in 872: the traditional dating of the Battle of Hafrsfjord, after which victorious King Harald Fairhair merged several petty kingdoms into that of his father. Named after the homonymous geographical region, Harald's realm was later to be known as the Kingdom of Norway. Traditionally established in 872 and existing continuously for over 1,100 years, the Kingdom of Norway is one of the original states of Europe: King Harald V, who has reigned since 1991, is the 64th monarch according to the official list. Gunnar Høst Sjøwall
Gunnar Høst Sjøwall (22 January 1936 – 9 September 2013) was a Norwegian portrait photographer and former competitive tennis player. Sjøwall was a son of photographer Gunnar Theodor Sjøwall. As a child, he showed early promise in tennis and was given intensive training. Sjøwall went on to compete in tennis, winning 14 national championships between 1955 and 1966. He also made a good showing in several international tournaments. He represented the clubs SK Njård and Stabekk TK. Sjøwall had an apprenticeship in photography with Edvard Welinder in Stockholm. He was educated at Institutt for Färgfoto (Institute for Color Photography) in Lund, Sweden. He won the Portrait of the Year award in the 1967 ''Photography Yearbook'', as well as other national and international awards. Jens Erik Fenstad
Jens Erik Fenstad (15 April 1935 – 13 April 2020) was a Norwegian mathematician. Fenstad graduated as ''mag.scient.'' from the University of Oslo in 1959, and worked as a research fellow there and at University of California, Berkeley, UC Berkeley. He was a professor at the University of Oslo from 1968 to 2003, except for the years 1989 to 1993, when he was vice rector (''prorektor''). On 29 May 1998 Fensted received an Honorary degree, honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Science and Technology at Uppsala University, Sweden. Tore Austad
Tore Austad (born 8 April 1935) is a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party. Born in Skedsmo, Akershus, he received a cand. philol. degree in 1962, and worked as a professor of Norwegian at the University of Chicago from 1964 to 1966. Returning to Norway he worked at various academic institutions, before being elected to the Storting from the county of Vest-Agder in 1977, where he sat for three periods, until 1989. On 14 October 1981, he was appointed Minister of Education and Church Affairs in the new government of Kåre Willoch. On 8 June 1983, the Conservative Party joined in a coalition with the Christian Democratic Party and the Centre Party, in order to form a majority government. Arne Kotte
Arne Kotte (20 March 1935 – 8 July 2015) was a Norwegian footballer who played as a forward. He was active at club level in Norway and Italy, and he represented Norway at senior international level. Career Born in Steinkjer, Kotte played for Steinkjer, Vålerenga, Palermo and Frigg Oslo. He started his career with Steinkjer, before moving to Oslo in the summer of 1952 where he joined Vålerenga. He played three seasons for the Oslo club before returning to Steinkjer in the summer of 1955. On 12 August 1956, Kotte signed a professional contract with Italian team Palermo. By doing so he became the first professional footballer from Steinkjer to play abroad. However, he suffered a knee injury five minutes into his first Palermo training match, which put him out of action for six months. Helge Tverberg
Helge Arnulf Tverberg (March 6, 1935December 28, 2020) was a Norwegian mathematician. He was a professor in the Mathematics Department at the University of Bergen, his speciality being combinatorics; he retired at the mandatory age of seventy. He was born in Bergen. He took the cand.real. degree at the University of Bergen in 1958, and the dr.philos. degree in 1968. He was a lecturer from 1958 to 1971 and professor from 1971 to his retirement in 2005. He was a visiting scholar at the University of Reading in 1966 and at the Australian National University, in Canberra, from 1980 to 1981, 1987 to 1988 and in 2004. Gunnar Stålsett
Gunnar Johan Stålsett (born 10 February 1935, in Nordkapp) is a Norwegian theologian and politician. He was leader of the Centre Party 1977–1979, general secretary of the Lutheran World Federation 1985–1993 and bishop of Oslo, in the Church of Norway 1998–2005. Early life Gunnar Stålsett was born in Repvåg to principal Johan Emil Stålsett and Alma Elisabeth Joki. He was one of eight children. When he was seven the family moved to Gildeskål. Odd Kvaal Pedersen (9 February 1935 – 16 March 1990) was a Norwegian journalist, author and translator. He spent the better part of his career as cultural editor of ''Stavanger Aftenblad''.
