1929–30 Southern Football League
The 1929–30 season was the 32nd in the history of the Southern Football League, Southern League. The league consisted of Eastern and Western Divisions. Aldershot F.C., Aldershot Town won the Eastern Division and Bath City F.C., Bath City won the Western Division. Aldershot were declared Southern League champions after winning a championship play-off 4–2. Three clubs from the Southern League applied to join the Football League, with Thames A.F.C., Thames Association being successful. They replaced Merthyr Town F.C., Merthyr Town, who rejoined the Southern League the 1930–31 Southern Football League, following season. In addition to Thames, a total of 12 clubs left the Southern League at the end of this season. Southern Football League
The Southern League is a men's football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from the South and Midlands of England. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system. The structure of the Southern League has changed several times since its formation in 1894, and currently there are 84 clubs which are divided into four divisions. The Central and South Divisions are at step 3 of the National League System (NLS), and are feeder divisions, mainly to the National League South but also to the National League North. Feeding the Premier Divisions are two regional divisions, Division One Central and Division One South, which are at step 4 of the NLS. These divisions are in turn fed by various regional leagues.
