The 69th United States Congress was a meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, consisting of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. It met in Washington, D.C. from March 4, 1925, to March 4, 1927, during the third and fourth years of Calvin Coolidge's presidency. George John Kindel
George John Kindel (March 2, 1855 – February 28, 1930) was an American politician from Colorado who served one term in the United States House of Representatives from 1913 to 1915. Biography Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kindel attended the public schools and St. Augustine's School in Cincinnati. Beginning in 1871, he apprentice as an upholsterer and mattress maker before relocating to Denver, Colorado in 1877. He worked throughout his career in the upholstery, mattress, and furniture business. Political career He served as a member of the board of supervisors of the city and county of Denver from 1910 to 1914. In 1912, Kindel won election as a Democrat to the Sixty-third Congress, which convened from March 4, 1913 to March 3, 1915. In 1914, rather than seek re-election, Kindel instead ran for the U.S. Senate, first as a Democratic candidate and then, after leaving the party, as an independent. The 1918 United States House of Representatives elections were held November 5, 1918, which occurred in the middle of President Woodrow Wilson's second term. With the country in World War I (contrary to previous promises by Wilson), and Wilson's personal popularity ebbing, the Republicans gained 25 seats and took over control of the House from Wilson's Democrats. Internal divide among Democratic leadership over aspects related to payment of the war also decreased the unity of the party, which had been the organization's strength during the decade. The Progressive Party also disappeared, with its former members generally becoming Democrats. Minnesota's Farmer–Labor Party, a descendant of populism, also gained its very first seat. Frederick H. William Vaile
William Newell Vaile (June 22, 1876 – July 2, 1927) was a U.S. Representative from Colorado. Born in Kokomo, Indiana, Vaile moved with his parents to Denver, Colorado, in 1881. Vaile was of English descent., p.262. He attended the public schools and graduated from Yale University in 1898. During the Spanish–American War, he served as a private in the First Regiment of the Connecticut Volunteer Field Artillery from May 19, 1898, to October 25, 1898. Vaile studied law at the University of Colorado in 1899 and Harvard Law School in 1900–01. He was admitted to the bar in 1901 and began his practice in Denver.
