The 1926 Tennessee gubernatorial election was held on November 2, 1926. Incumbent Democratic governor Austin Peay defeated Republican nominee Walter White with 64.7% of the vote, improving on his performance from 1924. Tennessee ( , ), officially the State of Tennessee, is a landlocked state in the Southeastern region of the United States. Austin Peay
Austin Peay (June 1, 1876 – October 2, 1927) was an American politician who served as the 35th governor of Tennessee from 1923 to 1927. He was the state's first governor since the Civil War to win three consecutive terms and the first to die in office. Prior to his election as governor, he served two terms in the Tennessee House of Representatives (1901–1905).
