President Of Chile
The president of Chile ( es, Presidente de Chile), officially known as the President of the Republic of Chile ( es, Presidente de la República de Chile), is the head of state and head of government of the Republic of Chile. The president is responsible for both the Government of Chile and state administration. Although its role and significance has changed over the history of Chile, as well as its position and relations with other actors in the national political organization, it is one of the most prominent political offices. It is also considered one of the institutions that make up the "Historic Constitution of Chile", and is essential to the country's political stability. Under the current Constitution (adopted in 1980), the president serves a four-year term, with immediate re-election being prohibited. Emiliano Figueroa
Emiliano Figueroa LarraÃn (; July 12, 1866 – May 15, 1931) was President of Chile from December 23, 1925 until his resignation on May 10, 1927. He also served as Acting president for a few months in 1910. Biography Figueroa was born on July 12, 1866 in Santiago, son of Francisco de Paula Figueroa Araoz and of RosalÃa LarraÃn EcheverrÃa. He studied in the San Ignacio School and then went on to study law at the State University. He graduated in 1889 and that same year was named secretary to the Intendant of Santiago. Figueroa decided to embark on a political career and joined the Liberal Democratic Party, which supported a stronger executive. He was elected deputy for Victoria and Melipilla in 1900 and reelected in 1903. In 1907, once his term had ended, he was selected to replace Juan José Valenzuela, deputy for Rere and Puchacay, who had died in July that year. The ''Monthly Weather Review'' is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the American Meteorological Society. It covers research related to analysis and prediction of observed and modeled circulations of the atmosphere, including technique development, data assimilation, model validation, and relevant case studies. Santiago
Santiago (, ; ), also known as Santiago de Chile, is the capital and largest city of Chile as well as one of the largest cities in the Americas. It is the center of Chile's most densely populated region, the Santiago Metropolitan Region, whose total population is 8 million which is nearly 40% of the country's population, of which more than 6 million live in the city's continuous urban area. George Robledo
Jorge "George" Robledo Oliver (14 April 1926 – 1 April 1989) was a Chilean professional footballer. He played as a striker, and is most notable for his time spent with Newcastle United. He was the first non-British-registered foreign player to become top scorer in England. Background Robledo was born in Iquique, Chile to a Chilean father and an English mother. He emigrated with his family to Brampton, Yorkshire in 1932, at the age of five, due to the instability in Chile at the time. Club career Robledo started his footballing career at Huddersfield Town, playing as a part-time amateur while he earned his money coal mining, though he never managed to break into the first team. He was able to give up the coal mining when he moved to Second Division Barnsley during World War II. First Division club Newcastle United signed him on 27 January 1949, for a fee of £26,500. Antonio Prieto (Chilean Actor)
Juan Antonio Espinoza Prieto (26 May 1926 – 14 July 2011) was a Chilean singer and actor. Also a popular singer, he scored an international 1961 hit with " La novia", mostly known in English-speaking countries as "The Wedding". In 1995 a ''20 Greatest Hits'' CD was released, which included such hits as "La novia" and "El milagro". He also made a very popular Spanish version of a song from the Italian singer Domenico Modugno. Lautaro Murúa
Lautaro Murúa (; 29 December 1926 in Tacna, Chile – 3 December 1995 in Madrid) was a Chilean-Argentine actor, film director, and screenwriter. He is one of the best known actors in the cinema of Argentina. Born in Chile, Murúa moved to Argentina at the beginning of the fifties. He studied architecture and fine arts before entering the film industry. He worked primarily as an actor and appeared in over 80 films between 1949 and his death in 1995 although he also directed a handful of important films such as '' Shunko'', '' Alias Gardelito'' and ''La Raulito'', all with stories usually revolving around social topics. As an actor, Murúa participated in the 1960s film industry revival, acting in the movies of Leopoldo Torre Nilsson, Rodolfo Kuhn, Manuel AntÃn and David José Kohon. AgustÃn Ross
AgustÃn Ross Edwards (February 5, 1844 – October 20, 1926) was a Chilean politician, diplomat, and banker. He was son of David Ross and Carmen Edwards Ossandon; both were of British ancestry. He was married to Susana De Ferari. Biography Ross studied at the Carlos Black and Simon Kerr School in La Serena. He studied at the Queen Street Institution in Scotland between 1856 and 1860. He participated in the trades of the bank of the Edwards family. He was private agent in London of the Government Junta of Iquique in 1891. He was plenipotentiary minister in Great Britain in February 1892. Ross moved to Pichilemu around 1890 and bought some land in the town. In San Fernando, in September 1885, he bought some property from Francisco Torrealba, on a site that was located at the Pichilemu beach.
