Joe Spence (footballer Born 1898)
Joseph Waters Spence (15 December 1898 – 31 December 1966) was an English footballer. Manchester United purchased Spence from Scotswood in March 1919. His first game for the club came on 30 August 1919 against Derby County, at the start of the first Football League season after the First World War. He scored 168 goals and made 510 appearances for Manchester United; at the time of his departure in 1933, both were club records. He was eventually overtaken by Jack Rowley as the club's top goalscorer in 1952, while his appearances record stood until November 1964, when he was surpassed by Bill Foulkes One of United's few true stars between the wars, Spence's wing play made "Give it to Joe" the most commonly heard terrace chant during his 14 years at Old Trafford. Huddersfield is a market town in the Kirklees district in West Yorkshire, England. It is the administrative centre and largest settlement in the Kirklees district. Harry Thomas (footballer)
Henry Thomas (born 28 February 1901) was a Welsh professional footballer who played as an outside left. He played for Swansea Town and Porth before joining Manchester United in 1922. He went on to make more than 100 appearances in the Football League for the club. He later played for Merthyr Town. During his career, he won a single cap for the Wales national football team. Career Born in Swansea, Wales, Thomas began his career with his hometown side Swansea Town. He made his debut for the club in the Southern Football League but struggled to establish himself in the first team and left the side in 1920, having made three league appearances. Thomas Gable Smith (18 October 1900 – 21 February 1934) was an English footballer who played as an inside right or outside right in the Football League for South Shields, Leicester City, Manchester United, Northampton Town and Norwich City. Smith, known as Tosher, played for Marsden Villa and Whitburn before moving to South Shields in 1919. He went on to spend four seasons at Manchester United and three at Northampton Town. Four of his six brothers were also footballers. Billy and Jack both played for South Shields and played in 1934 FA Cup Final together for Portsmouth.
