1924–25 Blackpool F.C. Season
The 1924–25 season was Blackpool F.C.'s 24th season (21st consecutive) in the Football League. They competed in the 22-team Division Two, then the second tier of English football, finishing seventeenth. Harry Bedford was the club's top scorer for the fourth consecutive season, with 28 goals in total (24 in the league and four in the FA Cup). Season synopsis Four victories in their opening six League fixtures put ''the Seasiders'' in and around the top of the table for the first couple of weeks of the campaign; however, the wheels started to fall off from that point onwards. Ten further victories were offset by nineteen defeats, which left the club three points above the drop zone at the end of the season. Their FA Cup journey ended in the fourth round, the only stage that they did not have to replay. It was the furthest they had ventured in the tournament to date. The Football League Second Division was the second level division in the English football league system between 1892 and 1992. Major Frank Buckley
Franklin Charles Buckley (more commonly known as Major Frank Buckley) (3 October 1882 – 21 December 1964) was an English football player and, later, manager. He was the brother of Chris Buckley, who played for Aston Villa. Early life Buckley was born in Urmston, Lancashire. He attended St Francis Xavier's College, Liverpool, and became an office clerk. Already part of the Manchester Regiment, Buckley signed up for a 12-year enlistment in King's Regiment (Liverpool) and expected to serve in the Boer War, but was instead sent to Ireland. He bought himself out of the army in 1902 to become a professional footballer. Playing career He went from Aston Villa to Brighton and Hove Albion to Manchester United and Manchester City all within six years, and found something approaching stability only with Birmingham, where he made 56 appearances. Harry Bedford (footballer)
Henry Bedford (15 October 1899 – 24 June 1976) was an English professional footballer who played as a forward. He scored 308 league goals in 485 games. Club career Harry Bedford began his playing career playing with hometown club Bonds Main FC and then joined his older brother Walter, at Grassmoor Ivanhoe FC in the Chesterfield League. It was here both brothers were invited for trials with Nottingham Forest FC in 1916. During the war years Harry made two appearances for Forest and also played in a match for Huddersfield Town. Second division Forest signed Harry as a professional after the war in August 1919. He made 5 appearances and scored 3 goals in his first season and after scoring 5 in 13 matches of the 1920-21 season, he left for Blackpool on the 8 March 1921, for a fee of £1,200. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). Since 2015, it has been known as The Emirates FA Cup after its headline sponsor. A concurrent women's tournament is also held, the Women's FA Cup. Blackpool is a seaside resort in Lancashire, England. Located on the northwest coast of England, it is the main settlement within the borough also called Blackpool. The town is by the Irish Sea, between the Ribble and Wyre rivers, and is north of Liverpool and northwest of Manchester.
