Howard Mossman Acher (December 10, 1889 – May 10, 1957) was an American football and basketball player coach. He attended Grove City College, where he played football, basketball and tennis. He was hired as a coach at Grove City College in July 1915. He served as the head football coach at Grove City in 1916 and 1919 and as head basketball coach from 1915 to 1917 and 1918 to 1920. He next served at the University of Tulsa from 1922 to 1925. The 1924 college football season was the year of the Four Horsemen as the Notre Dame team, coached by Knute Rockne, won all of its games, including the Rose Bowl, to be acclaimed as the best team in the nation. Russwood Park
Russwood Park was a stadium in Memphis, Tennessee. It was primarily used for baseball and was the home of the Memphis Chicks minor league baseball team until the spring of 1960. The ballpark was originally built in 1896, and was known as Elm Wood Park or Red Elm Park. In 1915, team owner Russell E. Garner incorporated his name into the ballpark's name. The "wood" part of the name would figure into its demise. Prior to its dramatic end, the ballpark was best known for being among the more uniquely shaped ballfields in the country. Clark Field, originally known as Varsity Athletic Field, was a stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. Clark Field hosted the Texas Longhorns football and track teams until they moved to the newly constructed Memorial Stadium in 1924.
