Kerstin Hesselgren
Kerstin Hesselgren (14 January 1872 – 19 August 1962) was a Swedish politician. Hesselgren became the first woman to be elected into the Upper House of the Swedish Parliament after female suffrage was introduced in 1921. She was elected by suggestion of the Liberals with support from the Social democrats. Biography Hesselgren was born at Torsåker, Gästrikland. She was the daughter of medical doctor Gustaf Alfred Hesselgren and Maria Margareta Wærn. She was the eldest of six children. She never married. She was educated by a governess at home and then at a girl school in Switzerland. In 1895, she graduated as a feldsher in Uppsala; in 1896. The following year she led the School of Domestic Science in Stockholm. Whilst on leave she qualified as a Sanitary Inspector from Bedford college in 1905 and left the college and her job in 1906. Christina Nilsson
Christina Nilsson, Countess de Casa Miranda, also called Christine Nilsson (20 August 1843 – 22 November 1921) was a Swedish dramatic coloratura soprano. Possessed of a pure and brilliant voice of first three then two and a half octaves trained in the bel canto technique, and noted for her graceful appearance and stage presence, she enjoyed a twenty-year career as a top-rank international singer before her 1888 retirement. A contemporary of one of the Victorian era's most famous divas, Adelina Patti, the two were often compared by reviewers and audiences, and were sometimes believed to be rivals. Nilsson became a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in 1869. Hulda Lundin
Hulda Lundin (June 12, 1847, Kristianstad – March 13, 1921, Oscars Parish, Stockholm) was a Swedish tailor and educator who laid the foundation for modern sewing education. She was the founder of the so-called “Swedish public school system of manual training”, and served as Inspector of Girls' Sloyd in the public schools of Stockholm. The government of Sweden granted Lundin a stipend to the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, the only woman thus chosen. Early years and education Hulda Sofia Lundin was the daughter of Anders Lundin and Christine Andersson, as well as sister to the fashionista, fashion designer, and tailor Augusta Lundin and actor Anna Diedrich. Egon Jönsson
Egon Jönsson (8 October 1921 – 19 March 2000) was a Swedish footballer who played as a midfielder for Malmö FF and the Sweden national team. Club career Nicknamed "Todde den Hemlige," Jönsson played 405 matches for Malmö FF, winning four Allsvenskan titles. He played in 200 Allsvenskan games for Malmö and scored 99 goals. International career He was part of the Sweden squads that competed at the 1948 and 1952 Summer Olympics, as well as the 1950 FIFA World Cup, winning one gold medal and two bronze medals. Tore Sjöstrand
Thore "Tore" Ingvar Sjöstrand (31 July 1921 – 26 January 2011) was a Swedish steeplechase runner. He won a bronze medal at the 1946 European Championships and a gold at the 1948 Summer Olympics. Domestically Sjöstrand won two titles, in 1947 and 1948, and finished second five times. Birgit Carp (13 July 1921 – 2 July 2007), better known by her screen name Git Gay, was a Swedish revue director, actress, and singer. Gay was born Birgit Agda Holmberg in 1921 in Karlshamn, Sweden. Her parents wanted her to become a concerto pianist and sent her to the Music Conservatory in Malmö. However, in the late 1940s, she was invited to act as a ''prima donna'' in a summer revue by director Sigge Holmberg. The following year, she performed at the Gröna Lund in Stockholm in the revue ''Klart Grönan''. In 1949, she was hired by the entertainer Karl Gerhard to participate in the revue ''Där de stora torskarna går'' in Gothenburg. In the 1950s, she performed with actor Åke Söderblom in ''Ge mig en lektion i kärlek'', a show that was sold out for three seasons. Towards the end of the 1950s, she worked with actors such as Nils Poppe and Albert Gaubier at the Södran Theatre in Malmö, and with director Hagge Geigert at Uddevalla. Sune Isidor "Mona-Lisa" Andersson (22 February 1921 – 29 April 2002) was a Swedish football player and manager. He is best remembered for representing AIK and A.S. Roma during his club career. A full international between 1947 and 1950, he won 28 caps and scored four goals for the Sweden national team. He was part of the Sweden teams that won gold at the 1948 Summer Olympics and finished third at the 1950 FIFA World Cup. Club career Andersason was a versatile midfielder, who would take any position: left, right or center. His only domestic title was the 1949 Svenska Cupen with AIK. His performance at the 1950 World Cup earned him a transfer to A.S. Roma in Serie A, where he played for two seasons and scored 12 goals. He then continued playing and coaching in Sweden until 1971.
