1920 Minnesota Gubernatorial Election
The 1920 Minnesota gubernatorial election took place on November 2, 1920. Republican Party of Minnesota candidate J. A. O. Preus defeated Independent politician, Independent challenger's Henrik Shipstead and the List of mayors of Saint Paul, Minnesota, Mayor of Saint Paul, Minnesota, St. Paul, Laurence C. Hodgson. Shipstead narrowly lost to Preus in the Republican primary of that year and challenged him in the general, beating the Democratic nominee but coming far short of winning the general. Shipstead would soon join the Minnesota Farmer–Labor Party, Farmer–Labor Party, which did not officially participate in this election, and would become the first party member to win statewide under that banner as Senator in 1922. Glenwood is a city in, and the county seat of, Pope County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,657 at the 2020 census. It is located on the northeastern shore of Lake Minnewaska. Thomas Frankson
Thomas Frankson (September 16, 1869 – June 8, 1939) was born in York Township, Minnesota. He was the 22nd Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota from 1917 to 1921. Frankson was a lawyer, real estate developer, and politician. He died June 8, 1939, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Watonwan County, Minnesota
Watonwan County is a county in the U.S. state of Minnesota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 11,253. Its county seat is St. James. History In 1849, the recently organized Minnesota Territory legislature authorized the creation of nine large counties across the territory. In 1853, one of those original counties, Dakota, had a large area partitioned off to create Blue Earth County. In 1855 the western part of Blue Earth was partitioned to create Brown County. On February 25, 1860, the southern part of Brown was partitioned to create this county, with Madelia as the designated county seat. The county was named for its eponymous river, whose name reflects the Dakota word "watanwan," meaning "fish bait" or "plenty of fish." The state auditor of Minnesota is a constitutional officer in the executive branch of the U.S. state of Minnesota. Nineteen individuals have held the office of state auditor since statehood.
