1920 Copa Del Rey Final
The 1920 Copa del Rey Final was the 20th final of the Spanish cup competition, the Copa del Rey. The final was played at El Molinón, in Gijón, on 2 May 1920, in front of an attendance of 10,000 spectators, who saw FC Barcelona beat Athletic Bilbao 2–0, thus winning their fourth cup title. The goals were scored in the second-half by Vicente Martínez and Paulino Alcántara. The final was attended by a large number of supporters from the Basque region, who arrived in Gijon by train. The match was surrounded by controversy due to referee Enrique Bertrán's performance, who annulled a goal by a penalty awarded to Athletic Bilbao, alleging that scorer Germán Echevarría had shot before he gave the order to do it. Nevertheless, the penalty was not kicked for a second time, as ruled on the laws of the game. The referee was also criticized for allowing misconduct from both teams. Ricardo Zamora
Ricardo Zamora Martínez (; 14 February 1901 – 8 September 1978) was a Spanish footballer and manager. He played as a goalkeeper for, among others, RCD Espanyol, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. As an international he played for both the Catalan XI and Spain. As a manager, he won two La Liga titles with Atlético Aviación and briefly managed Spain. Zamora, nicknamed ''El Divino'', was noted for wearing a cloth cap and a white polo-neck jumper on the field, a look later copied by several of his contemporaries. He claimed it was to protect him from both the sun and his opponents. As a goalkeeper, he was primarily known for his athleticism, quick reflexes, shot-stopping abilities, large frame, and bravery in goal. Pichichi (footballer)
Rafael Moreno Aranzadi (23 May 1892 – 1 March 1922), known as Pichichi, was a Spanish footballer who played as a forward. He played for Athletic Bilbao during the 1910s and 1920s. He received his nickname because of his frail build. Club career Born in Bilbao, Biscay, Pichichi played in his first Copa del Rey final in March 1913 as Athletic Bilbao, his sole club, lost 1–0 against Racing Club de Irún. Gregorio Sena
Gregorio Sena Manterola (8 September 1890 – 22 May 1956) was a Spanish footballer who played as a midfielder for Real Sociedad and Athletic Club. His brothers Alfonso and Miguel also played for Real Sociedad. Biography Born in San Sebastián, he began his career in 1909 at his local club Real Sociedad, which had just been founded by, among others, his two older brothers. Francisco Belauste
Francisco Belausteguigoitia Landaluce (3 September 1897 - 26 April 1981), nicknamed Pacho and also known as Belauste III, was a Spanish footballer who played as a midfielder. His brothers, José María and Ramón, were also footballers. His great-granddaughter, Bibiane Schulze, also is a footballer who represented the Athletic Club women's team. Sabino Bilbao Líbano (11 December 1897 – 20 January 1983) was a Spanish footballer who played as a midfielder. Football career Born in Leioa, Biscay, Sabino played six seasons with Athletic Bilbao (1918–24), prior to the creation of La Liga. Domingo Acedo
Domingo Gómez-Acedo y Villanueva (6 June 1898 – 14 September 1980), also known as Txomin, was a Spanish footballer who played primarily as a left-sided forward and sometimes as a left back. Acedo was in the Spain national team that competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics, and won the silver medal. Luis Hurtado (Spanish Footballer)
Luis José Emilio Hurtado Gaminde (6 April 1892 - Unknown) was a Spanish footballer who played as a defender. He spent all 16 seasons of his playing career with Athletic Bilbao, thus being a historical member of the club and part of the so-called one-club men group. He played a pivotal role in helping the Basque club reach eight Copa del Reys finals, of which he played in seven (missed the 1911 Copa del Rey Final) and won five, including three in a row between 1914 and 1916, which makes him one of the players with the best record of the competition. Jack Greenwell
John Richard Greenwell (2 January 1884 – 20 November 1942) was an English football manager and former player. He is Barcelona's longest serving manager, having coached the club for ten consecutive seasons (initially as player-coach, then as manager), later returning to coach for two more seasons in the 1930s. In 1939, Greenwell became the only non-South American coach to date to win the South American Championship when he guided Peru to their first win. Félix Sesúmaga Ugarte (12 October 1898 – 24 August 1925) was a Spanish (Basque) footballer who played as a forward for Arenas Club de Getxo, FC Barcelona, Racing de Sama de Langreo, Athletic Bilbao and Spain. Francisco Vinyals Bou (Barcelona, 10 December 1897 – April 1951) was a Spanish footballer who played as a winger with FC Barcelona for his intire career which spanned 12 years between 1914 and 1926.
