1910 VFL Grand Final
The 1910 VFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Collingwood Football Club and Carlton Football Club, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne on 1 October 1910. It was the 13th annual Grand Final of the Victorian Football League, staged to determine the premiers for the 1910 VFL season. The match, attended by 42,790 spectators, was won by Collingwood by a margin of 14 points, marking that club's third premiership victory. Percy Gibb
Percy Henry Gibb (6 December 1881 – 2 November 1940) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Gibb played most of his football as a wingman and started his career at Richmond, who at that stage were participating in the VFA. He transferred to Collingwood in 1905 and was member of their 1910 premiership team as well as being a losing Grand Finalist in 1905 and 1911. A Victorian interstate football representative, Gibb retired in 1914 but remained at Collingwood as a committeeman. He was the brother of Len Gibb and Reg Gibb. Douglas James Gillespie (13 December 1887 – 6 January 1947) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Thomas Matthew Baxter (23 February 1884 – 8 May 1959) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood and St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Football Baxter, originally from Maldon, was a Collingwood premiership player in 1910. Richard Daykin
Richard Francis Daykin (7 January 1887 – 1 September 1943) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Daykin played two seasons over three years for Collingwood in the VFL. His first season was in 1908 and after missing the 1909 season he returned to play in 1910. Daykin was the rover in Collingwood's 1910 premiership team, his last VFL game. David James Ryan (23 January 1885 – 13 February 1957) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Geelong and Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Originally from Yarrawonga, Ryan arrived at Collingwood in 1907 after failing to make an impact in his season with Geelong. Percival Edward Wilson (31 March 1889 – 28 March 1941) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood and Melbourne in the Victorian Football League The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). Walter Henry "Dick" Lee (19 March 1889 – 11 September 1968) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club in the (then) Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The son of long-term Collingwood trainer Walter Henry Lee (1863–1952), and Isabella Lee (1867–1929), née Turnbull, Walter Henry Lee was born in Collingwood on 19 March 1889. He married Zella Dixon in 1927. Football Lee was one of the first great forwards in Australian Football with an ability to win the ball on the ground or in the air. He was considered one of the finest practitioners of the place kick in the game, a reputation which followed long after the skill disappeared from the game.
