1910 Oregon Agricultural Aggies Football Team
The 1910 Oregon Agricultural Aggies football team was an American football team that represented Oregon Agricultural College (now known as Oregon State University) as an independent during the 1910 college football season. In their first and only season under head coach George Schildmiller, the Aggies compiled a 3–2–1 record and were outscored by their opponents by a combined total of 43 to 27. Against major opponents, the Aggies defeated Washington State (9–3) and lost to Oregon (0–12) and Washington (0–22). George Schildmiller
George Henry Schildmiller (January 9, 1882 – after 1947) was an American football player and coach. He played for Dartmouth College and coached at the University of Maine in 1909 and at Oregon State University in 1910. Early life and playing career Schildmiller was born on January 9, 1882, in Brattleboro, Vermont. He played football and basketball at Dartmouth College. In 1908, he was named to the College Football All-America Team. He was also a letter winner for the basketball team in the 1906–07 and 1907–08 seasons. Coaching career At the conclusion of his playing career, Schildmiller coached at the University of Maine. He remained at Maine for one season and posted a record of 3–4–1. In 1910, Schildmiller came to Corvallis, Oregon to become the head football coach at Oregon State, known then as Oregon Agricultural College. Bell Field
Bell Field, originally known as College Field (1893–1909), was an outdoor athletic stadium in the northwest United States, on the campus of Oregon State College (now University) in Corvallis, Oregon. It was the home venue of Oregon State Beavers football prior to the opening of Parker Stadium (now Reser Stadium) in November 1953. Track and field continued at Bell Field until its demolition in 1974. History Opened in 1910, Bell Field had a seating capacity of 21,000 at its peak and was named after J.R.N. The 1910 college football season had no clear-cut champion, with the ''Official NCAA Division I Football Records Book'' listing Harvard and Pittsburgh as having been retrospectively selected national champions, by four "major selectors" in about 1927, 1947, 1970 and 1980. Only Harvard claims a national championship for the 1910 season.
