The Norwegian monarch is the head of state of Norway, which is a constitutional and hereditary monarchy with a parliamentary system. The Norwegian monarchy can trace its line back to the reign of Harald Fairhair and the previous petty kingdoms which were united to form Norway; it has been in unions with both Sweden and Denmark for long periods. The present monarch is King Harald V, who has reigned since 17 January 1991, succeeding his father, Olav V. The heir apparent is his only son, Crown Prince Haakon. Odd Bull
Lieutenant General Odd Bull (28 June 1907 – 8 September 1991) was a career officer in the Royal Norwegian Air Force who rose to the position of Chief of Air Staff. He is probably best known outside Norway for his role as Chief of Staff of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) between 1963 and 1970, a period which coincided with the Six-Day War between Israel and its Arab neighbours. He wrote a memoir of his experiences during this time, which was published as ''War and Peace in the Middle East: The Experiences and Views of a U.N. Observer''. Early life Odd Bull was born on June 28, 1907. He traces his family origins back to 1700 when the family patriarch, a ship's captain named Jacob Bull, first settled in Norway. Per Lie
Per Lie (20 May 1907 – 5 March 1945) was a Norwegian labour activist who was imprisoned and killed during the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany. He was born in Kristiania as the son of Andreas Lie and his wife Karen, née Gunnarsrud. He was the younger brother of known politician Haakon Lie. The family was poor and, until 1916, his father had to work 112 hours a week. With his parents, two brothers, and two sisters, he shared one room and a kitchen. Per Lie married in 1943, and had one child. The family settled in Aker. Lie, having middle school as his highest education, worked as a secretary then World War II broke out. When German occupation of Norway, he involved himself in resistance work. He helped print and spread the illegal laborers' publication ''Fri Fagbevegelse'', and assisted people who fled the country. Lars Amandus Aasgard (18 May 1907 – 4 November 1984) was a Norwegian politician for the Christian Democratic Party of Norway, Christian Democratic Party. He was born in Lindås. He was elected to the Storting, Norwegian Parliament from Hordaland in 1961, and was re-elected on one occasion. He had previously served as a deputy representative in the periods 1954–1957 and 1958–1961. On the local level, Aasgard was deputy mayor of Lindås municipality in the period 1947–1951, and mayor from 1951 to 1963. He spent most of his professional career managing a furniture factory. Aase Wind Lionæs (10 April 1907 – 2 January 1999) was a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party, and a socialist feminist. She was born in Oslo. She was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Oslo in 1958, and was re-elected on four occasions. Lars Breie (3 April 1907 – 5 October 1999) was a Norwegian jurist, auditor and politician for the Labour Party. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Buskerud in 1945, and was re-elected on one occasion. Hans Kleppen (16 March 1907 – 12 April 2009) was a Norwegian ski jumper who competed in the late 1920s.
