The Neo Phaliron Velodrome (New Phaleron) was a velodrome and sports arena in the Neo Faliro District of Piraeus, Greece, used for the cycling events at the Athens 1896 Summer Olympics.Quote from page 194/241: ''The bicycle match took place in the Velodrome which had only recently been erected in New Phaleron.''Quote from page 144/241: ''... buildings undertaken by the Committee ... the velodrome near the tomb of the Greek hero Karaiskakis in New Phaleron ... were begun at once.'' 1906-07 Panhellenic Championship
The 1907 SEGAS Championship was the second championship organized by SEGAS and the Hellenic Olympic Committee. Overview The competition was held in a cup-like format. All 3 matches took place at the Neo Phaliron Velodrome. Ethnikos G.S. Athens won the championship, after beating Akadimaikon Gimnastirion by 2–1 in the final. Note that Akadimaikon Gimnastirion was the football team of the University of Athens. The other 3 contestants were the same with the previous season. Peiraikos Syndesmos (Greek: Πειραϊκός Σύνδεσμος) or simply Peiraikos, also written Piraikos Syndesmos, is one of the oldest sports clubs in Greece, based in Piraeus. It was founded in 1894. Today Peiraikos has departments in basketball, volleyball, and track and field. The previous years it had departments in football, swimming, handball, and water polo.
