Ivar Ballangrud
Ivar Eugen Ballangrud (né ''Eriksen'', 7 March 1904 – 1 June 1969) was a Norwegian speed skater, a four-time Olympic champion in speed skating. As the only triple gold medalist at the 1936 Winter Olympics, Ballangrud was the most successful athlete there. Biography Ivar Ballangrud was one of the most successful speed skaters in the world for a period of 15 years, from 1924 to 1939. Coming from the small place Lunner on Hadeland, he was a member of the famous "Hadeland Trio", consisting of himself, Michael Staksrud and Hans Engnestangen. He represented the club Trondhjems Skøiteklub. Ballangrud was four times World Allround Champion, four times European Allround Champion, five times Norwegian Allround Champion, and four times Olympic Champion. He won three Olympic titles at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen: 500 m (quite surprisingly), 5000 m, and 10,000 m. Magnhild Hagelia
Magnhild Hagelia (6 May 1904 – 4 July 1996) was a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. Biography Hagelia was born at Gjerstad in Aust-Agder, Norway. She was the eldest of eight children born to Peder Jakobsen Hagelia (1874–1941) and Karen Tomine Pedersdatter Gryting (1881–1956). She was a student at Otto Treider's school in Oslo in 1933–34. She was trained in accounting and served for six years as business manager in Gjerstad supply council and then municipal councilor in Gjerstad 1945–47. She was added to the County Audit Office in Aust-Agder from 1948 until she retired in 1969. Hagelia held positions in local politics in the municipalities Fjære (1947–51), Øyestad (1956–59) and Grimstad (1971). Ragnvald Skrede
Ragnvald Skrede (24 April 1904 – 16 August 1983) was a Norwegian author, journalist, literature critic and translator. Biography Ragnvald Skrede was born in Vågå in Oppland county, Norway. Skrede was the youngest of seven children. He was a student at Elverum teacher school (1921–24). In 1928, he was hired as a teacher and sexton in Rauland, in Telemark. He studied at the University of Oslo (1928–1934). In 1934, he became a teacher in Vågå. In the postwar years, Skrede worked as a journalist and literary critic for ''Verdens Gang'' and ''Dagbladet'' and a theater critic for '' Bondebladet''. Skrede was 45 years old when he began his writing in the year 1949. As a poet, he often used the classic and permanent stanza forms. Carl Viggo Manthey Lange
Carl Viggo Manthey Lange (9 April 1904 – 31 May 1999) was a Norwegian physician and politician for the Labour Party. He was born in Kristiania as a son of Christian Lous Lange (1869–1938) and Bertha Manthey (1867–1947), and brother of August and Halvard Manthey Lange. He enrolled as a student in 1922, and graduated with the cand.med. degree in 1929. While studying he was a member of '' Mot Dag'', where he organized study circles for both members and non-members, and contributed to the periodical ''Populært Tidsskrift for Seksuell Oplysning''. He was the chairman of the Norwegian Students' Society in 1933, and of the Student Society in Trondheim in 1939. Lange worked as a physician in Oslo from 1930, and then in Trondheim from 1934 to 1946. The exception was the period from 1942 to 1945, when he was imprisoned at Falstad concentration camp by the Nazi occupants of Norway.
