Murad (actor)
Hamid Ali Murad (24 September 1911 – 24 April 1997) known simply as Murad was an Indian character actor who appeared in more than 100 Hindi language films from the early 1940s through to the end of the 1980s, playing character roles of a father, police officer, judge and an emperor. His son Raza Murad is also an actor in the Hindi film industry who is known for playing mostly villain roles. His niece is actress Zeenat Aman and his granddaughters are actresses Sonam and Sanober Kabir. Early life Murad was born on 24 September 1911 in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, British India. He studied at Minto Circle (STS High School), Aligarh Muslim University. Career Murad's career began in the early 1940s when he made his acting debut in the 1943 film '' Najma'' which was directed by Mehboob Khan. Gorur Ramaswamy Iyengar
Goruru Ramaswamy Iyengar (1904–1991), popularly known as Goruru, was an Indian writer who wrote in Kannada. He was well known for his humour and satire. Early life Goruru Ramaswami Iyengar was born at "Goruru" in Hassan district of Karnataka in 1904. His father was Srinivas Iyengar and his mother Lakshamma. Career Goruru Ramaswami Iyengar was influenced by Indian Independence Movement and became a staunch follower of Mahatma Gandhi. He was jailed by the British administration in 1942 for 2 months for his participation in the Quit India Movement and in 1947. His son Ramachandra became a martyr for the same cause in 1947. After Independence in 1947, Goruru worked in the industries. He began writing early in life with the celebrated books ''HALLIYA CHITHRAGALLU'' (1930) and ''NAMMA OORINA RASIKARU'' (1932). Majnun Gorakhpuri
Ahmad Siddiq, better known by his pen name Majnun Gorakhpuri (Urdu:احمد صدیق مجنوں گورکھپوری), (10 May 1904 – 4 June 1988) was an Urdu short story ( Afsana) writer, poet and literary critic. Life Ahmad Siddiq, known as Majnun Gorakhpuri, was born on 10 May 1904 in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh (then United Provinces). His father was Muhammed Farooq Devana Gorakhpuri who used to teach at Aligarh Muslim University as a professor and also used to write a newspaper column in Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar's newspaper ''Hamdard''. His friend Firaq Gorakhpuri also hailed from Gorakhpur and was now settled in Allahbad. Firaq himself recalls, "Majnun Gorakhpuri came to Allahabad those days and got admitted to a college. Kuvempu
Kuppali Venkatappa Puttappa (29 December 1904 – 11 November 1994), popularly known by his pen name Kuvempu, was an Indian poet, playwright, novelist and critic. He is widely regarded as the greatest Kannada poet of the 20th century. He was the first Kannada writer to receive the Jnanpith Award. Kuvempu studied at Mysuru University in the 1920s, taught there for nearly three decades and served as its vice-chancellor from 1956 to 1960. He initiated education in Kannada as the language medium. For his contributions to Kannada Literature, the Government of Karnataka decorated him with the honorific ''Rashtrakavi'' ("National Poet") in 1964 and Karnataka Ratna ("The Gem of Karnataka") in 1992.
