1902 Nebraska Cornhuskers Football Team
The 1902 Nebraska Cornhuskers football team represented the University of Nebraska as an independent during the 1902 college football season. Led by third-year head coach Walter C. Booth, the Cornhuskers compiled a record of 9–0, excluding one exhibition game. Nebraska played home games at Antelope Field in Lincoln, Nebraska. Cornhuskers compiled a 9–0 record and shut out every opponent by a combined score of 164–0. The Cornhuskers 's hopes to be considered the western champion were dashed when 11–0 Michigan was selected instead selected following their season-ending 23–6 win over Minnesota (Nebraska defeated the Gophers 6–0). Believing Michigan's membership in the Western Conference elevated its title chances, Nebraska applied to the conference following the season, but the application was denied on account of Lincoln's distance from other schools in the conference. Kansas–Nebraska Football Rivalry
The Kansas–Nebraska football rivalry was an American college football rivalry between the Kansas Jayhawks and Nebraska Cornhuskers. The rivalry dissolved when Nebraska left the Big 12 Conference for the Big Ten Conference in 2010. The rivalry was more prominent early in the 20th century but began to fall off as Nebraska began to dominate the series, winning all but four games between 1962 and when Nebraska left the Big 12 after the 2010 season and by an average of 28.3 points. History The rivalry was a "border rivalry", and at the time of its ending was the longest non-interrupted rivalry in college football history at 105 straight games. In their first and only season under head coach Arthur Hale Curtis, the Jayhawks compiled a 6–4 record and outscored opponents by a combined total of 108 to 93.2017 Kansas Football Media Guide, p. 180. The Jayhawks played their home games at McCook Field in Lawrence, Kansas. W. D. Vincent was the team captain.
