William Alexis Stone
William Alexis Stone (April 18, 1846March 1, 1920) was an American politician who served as the 22nd governor of Pennsylvania, serving from 1899 to 1903. Early life and family Stone was born in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. He was descended from Simon Stone, Jr (1631 - 1708), who was born in Bocking, Essex, England, and settled in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. In 1864, Stone enlisted in the Union Army as a private during the American Civil War, and became a second lieutenant in 1865. He continued his military service after the war in the Pennsylvania National Guard. He attended Mansfield State Normal School and taught while studying law. Alexander Hamilton Coffroth
Alexander Hamilton Coffroth (May 18, 1828 – September 2, 1906) was a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. Life and career Alexander H. Coffroth was born in Somerset, Pennsylvania. He attended the public schools and Somerset Academy. He published a Democratic paper in Somerset for five years. He studied law in the law office of Hon. Jeremiah S. Black, and was admitted to the bar in February 1851 at Somerset, where he practiced his profession. He was a delegate to several Democratic State conventions, as well as a delegate to the 1860 Democratic National Conventions which assembled in Charleston, South Carolina, and Baltimore, Maryland. Charles Warren Stone (June 29, 1843 – August 15, 1912) was a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania and the second lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania. Early life Charles W. Stone was born near Groton, Massachusetts. He attended Lawrence Academy at Groton, and graduated from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, in 1863. He moved to Pennsylvania in 1863 and settled in Warren. He served as superintendent of schools of Warren County, Pennsylvania, in 1865.
