The Norwegian monarch is the head of state of Norway, which is a constitutional and hereditary monarchy with a parliamentary system. The Norwegian monarchy can trace its line back to the reign of Harald Fairhair and the previous petty kingdoms which were united to form Norway; it has been in unions with both Sweden and Denmark for long periods. The present monarch is King Harald V, who has reigned since 17 January 1991, succeeding his father, Olav V. The heir apparent is his only son, Crown Prince Haakon. Claudia Olsen (22 September 1896 – 9 November 1980) was a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party of Norway, Conservative Party. She was born in Tønsberg. She was elected to the Stortinget, Norwegian Parliament from the ''Market towns of Vestfold'' in 1945, and was re-elected on three occasions. Einar Gundersen
Einar "Jeja" Gundersen (20 September 1896 – 29 October 1962) was a Norwegian footballer who played play as a centre-forward for Odd. He is regarded as one of Norwegian football's first star players. He played 33 internationals for Norway, and his 26 international goals puts him second on the national team's all-time scoring list. His nickname Jeja means literally "Me Then", as that was what he wondered as a kid when he was not picked for the team. At club level, Gundersen scored more than 200 goals. Isak Larsson Flatabø
Isak Larsson Flatabø (11 September 1896 – 22 January 1969) was a Norwegian politician for the Norwegian Labour Party, Labour Party. He was born in Kvam, Vikør. He was elected to the Storting, Norwegian Parliament from Hordaland in 1945, and was re-elected on four occasions. He had previously served as a deputy representative in the periods 1934–1936 and 1937–1945. On the local level, Flatabø was a member of Kvam, Hordaland, Kvam municipality council from 1927 to 1940. He chaired the local party chapter from 1933 to 1934, and the county chapter from 1953 to 1958. Outside politics he worked as a manual laborer and as a farmer. Eilif Løvrak Holmesland (25 August 1896 – 21 March 1959) was a Norwegian jurist and politician for the Liberal Party. He was born in Kristiania as the son of Peter Karl Holmesland and grandson of Simon Pedersen Holmesland, both former parliament members. He enrolled as a student in 1914, graduated as cand.jur. in 1919 and started working as an attorney in Gjerpen, where his father was district stipendiary magistrate (). In 1921 he moved to Arendal to work as a lawyer. He became a Supreme Court lawyer in 1928. From 1931 he had been a member of Arendal city council. Gunnar Reiss-Andersen
Gunnar Reiss-Andersen (21 August 1896 – 29 July 1964) was a Norway, Norwegian Lyric poetry, lyric poet and writer. Biography He was born at Larvik in Vestfold, Norway. Reiss-Andersen went to sea at 17 years of age, sailing the Baltic Sea, Baltic and North Seas for a year in the brig “Baron von Holberg", which was commanded by his uncle, Knut Knutsen. After completing the Examen artium with emphasis in Latin in 1916 he went into the military, becoming a non-commissioned officer. There he followed his inclination towards the arts, painting portraits. He subsequently studied painting in Copenhagen (1917–1919) and Paris (1919–1921). For several years he worked as an artist, illustrator, and the art reviewer for the ''Arbeiderbladet'' newspaper in Oslo. Olav Svalastog (27 July 1896 – 16 October 1979) was a Norwegian politician for the Christian Democratic Party. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Telemark in 1945, but was not re-elected in 1949. Svalastog was a member of Solum municipal council from 1955 to 1957. Ivar Frithiof Andresen (27 July 1896 – 6 November 1940) was a Norwegian opera singer who pursued a successful international career in Europe and the United States. Andresen was the first Norwegian to perform at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City (preceding his famous compatriot, the great Wagnerian soprano Kirsten Flagstad, by five years). Olaf Solumsmoen (19 July 1896 – 22 September 1972) was a Norwegian newspaper editor and politician for the Labour Party. He was born in Sigdal, and decided to be a stenographer. He was hired in the Labour Party newspaper ''Fremtiden'' in Drammen, where he also was involved in local politics. He eventually left stenography to become a journalist. He worked as chief editor for the Labour Party press office Arbeidernes Pressekontor from 1931 to 1946. During the Nazi occupation of Norway from 1940 to 1945, an underground newspaper was published titled '' Bulletinen''. The first editors were Olaf Solumsmoen and Olav Larssen . Trygve Halvdan Lie ( , ; 16 July 1896 – 30 December 1968) was a Norwegians, Norwegian politician, labour leader, government official and author. He served as Norwegian foreign minister during the critical years of the Nygaardsvold's Cabinet, Norwegian government in exile in London from 1940 to 1945.
